Just lower the dose, I have had it in the past when I used too much
I already lowered the dose. I will keep going on with low dose for a while.
Since now I have been taking whey+digestive enzymes+betaine hcl.. should I add a general electrolites supplement to the stack?

Is there a specific reason why we are not using a b12 & folate supplement on this protocol?

Just keep dropping the betaine HCl until you don't have reflux, that means you are taking too much or don't need it.

How are you feeling now? I thought you were taking potassium chloride already? If not, yes I would add that in. Most ppl do well with just potassium chloride alone actually.

I tryed with the magnesium as well, but I first dropped the magnesium and couple days later the potassium as well since I was seeing improvements just by bethaine, enzymes and whey.
I would like to add the electrolities now, would it be better to add a complete elettrolities supplement or just the potsium?
I am doing "great" even if still not reached the point I want.
Thank.

Most people use this https://www.amazon.com/Eidon-Ionic-Minerals-640923000406-Electrolytes/dp/B00AP7074W

or they just supplement individually in chloride forms. Mag causes a few people issues (low libido, fatigue), but when they supplement potassium chloride by itself they feel much better so you are going to have to do a bit of trail and error to see what causes you issues and what doesn't.

@TubZy I've been taking Betaine and Amino Acids for a week now and really noticed a notable improvement with brain fog almost instantly, however I have been fatigued and today noticed that my fatigue started almost as soon as I took my supplements with eggs in the morning, could this be because I haven't added the electrolytes to the protocol yet?

Getting more protein assimilated with the HCl, could be lowering cortisol, so producing fatigue, but should be a good thing

You are slowing metabolism with betaine HCL (tanking potassium) so that is why you need potassium chloride. When you add in electrolytes (mainly potassium chloride) fatigue should improve, if not lower betaine HCL dose further.

But your protein intake should be high as well like @Orion said

Thanks @TubZy and @Orion, my hair test showed that I have a slow metabolism already, and bloods that I have lowish cortisol, should I be more careful with the Betaine till the KCl arrives? I still haven't worked up to my optimal dose of Betaine (take 2 tablets with each meal with no discomfort)

Glycine lowers metabolism. If you are taking potassium chloride that is why gelatin works. usually gelatin lowers libido . this is why it never worked for people on Ray peat forum..
Since glycine is excitatory when chloride is not there/

You killed your potassium with all these sups. hence leaky gut

Look at health protocol. it is explained about gelatin there , glycine and all other stuff. Be good amigo

If you keep taking MSM you will have crazy food sensitivities. And allergies, be ready. MSM kills molybdenum and killed moly will turn off aldehydes enzymes

YOu keep taking all these things in random order. It does not work this way, you always go from one imbalance to another. Just take balanced stuff. Sulfur will fall if moly is not present, then sulfur can cause hypoxia. It needs to be balanced.

Remember sulfur lowers chloride. Sulfur lowers oxygen. Glycine needs chloride. Without chloride all these wont work. Chloride needs potassium.

If you take potassium chloride alone, your scalp will be prickly without all other supps..

Glycine is a NDMA receptor agonist , same as DHEA. It is the potassium chloride which allows you to tolerate it. I never understood how people on Ray peat forum tolerated glycine with all that milk and calcium that they were taking. It just made it all worse.

When you take potassium chloride , you can tolerate glycine and tolerate dhea. Glycine does not increase 5 alpha. It lowers 5 alpha on its own. That is why gelatin caused crashes for PFS people

Does anybody know what he meant by "If you take potassium chloride alone, your scalp will be prickly without all other supps.." ?
I cant make any sense out of that quote tbh.

Would also love to hear any ideas regarding this. I remember @gbolduev was mentioning folate with histidine a few months back, but things seem to have moved on since then. He still mentions folate with regard to eating lots of greens etc..

@raven This is exactly what happens to me. Sometimes too much betaine HCL, not enough potassium (beet juice I use for it), sodium (sea salt for me), or even just not staying hydrated enough (h2o lol) could cause extra fatigue.

Just gotta keep going- it gets better in time if you are going all in taking care of yourself.

I ran out of betaine hcl last week and would continue to feel pretty awful after eating. complete loss of energy, not feeling like my body would digest much. was trying to push my body to see what it could do a bit.

after getting my hands back on bulk supps b-hcl, I can eat anything and not feel like shit. night and day difference. my stomach acid must be near non existant. even my blood sugar issues after meals seem to be completely solved by taking the appropriate amount of b-hcl. my skin is clearer and I have a feeling that my body is actually able to absorb things again. my stomach just doesn't digest anything on its own apparently.

It seems like I can take an infinite amount of capsules and still be fine, is there a point where I could actually start doing damage to my stomach? I know you wanna keep this stuff away from your esophagus and teeth. experienced that first hand.

@Rid You're saying you were feeling awful because you no longer had betaine HCL? Or were feeling awful anyways due to it not being the best version of HCL?
I feel like betaine hcl definitely interferes with my digestion. We talked about this before - but I feel like I refed like 30 days already now, that's kind of long.
Maybe I'll buy bulk supps hcl. I think my digestion is better without anything yet - just a strict diet. I do however want to do whatever I can to make Ella stick and my next steps too. Hair test coming back in ~2 weeks.

Edit: I think my digestion probs are just gelatin and betaine HCL. Other stuff probably fine for me.

Need advise to what do next step: @TubZy @gbolduev
I honestly felt great on the bethaine hcl and the protocol, bethaine hcl didnt bother me at all, I felt foods got absorbed way better and that is probablythe reason I have seen improvements.
These last days I felt a kind of reflux coming up my throw, and Tubzy suggested me to reduce the bethaine hcl, as I did.
But I was doing good, so I don't know if I should keep going with the bethaine hcl or drop, being 1 month I am using it, I dont know if keeping going using longer can cause any damage..??

Just keep dropping the betaine HCl until you don't have reflux, that means you are taking too much or don't need it.
I dropped it and digest well and now I suppressed the last veg food and try 100% animal, lets see, but so far the result is excellent for my gut. It is silent and calm, and I am never really hungry. I had to take care of this, because yesterday I was as tired as if fasting!
My last bad day was the day I had fats and no meat, as I snacked on avocado and nuts beofre bed...

I dont know if keeping going using longer can cause any damage..??
I think it can....
My stomach got quite sensitive.
Try to drop it maybe...

Nobody?
Not even @gbolduev ?

Im asking cause my skin started to be kind of tingly and prickly over the last days.

It may mean just what it says... "If you take potassium chloride alone, your scalp will be prickly without all other supps.." ?
You need to take all other advised supps and not KCl alone.

Thanks! I am tired but pretty calm, and it could explain, as I eat only protein foods! I also feel less pains overall, like tendons are better than before!
I do add K Ca Na and Mg and some zinc I maybe should not but it is there is the product.... Waiting for my Cu.
