@gbolduev would you be able to comment on what causes excessive oily skin(facial/scalp over production of sebum), related to histamine/histidine, zinc finger...?

"Identification of histamine receptors and reduction of squalene levels by an antihistamine in sebocytes.":
Identification of histamine receptors and reduction of squalene levels by an antihistamine in sebocytes. - PubMed - NCBI

Someone posted this about the above study, in layman's terms:

"In “English,” it means that an over production of sebum in part could be due to over active histamine (which is released from mast cells during an inflammation or allergic activity (could be fungi, yeast allergen for example) and that blocking the pathway of the receptor involved in histamine release could potentially block the over production of sebum from the pilosebaceous unit (it houses the hair follicle shaft).

Lithium as orotate is a natural histamine modulator and strongly inhibits histamine based sebum production–by reducing histamine response.

Also, therapeutic histamine releaser’s, such as nicotinic acid (niacin, niacinamide, adenosine) inhibit histamine. By promoting an initial histamine release, it shuts down the bodies overactive histamine.

Niacinamide at 3,000 milligrams per day is a relatively inexpensive way to achieve this.

My favorite supplement, Ecklonia Cava Extract also inhibits histamine release."

Can you speak more on Ecklonia Cava Extract and why it's your fav supplement for you?

Which one btw? where do you buy from?

Yaaaake very important question!
Lithium has other motives of prescription, and if this had a side effect.... about histamine.....

Added question: what is the effect when you STOP an anti-histamine?

That was actually part of the quoted text, doesn't mention why it's his favourite, but guessing it helps keep his allergies until control... might be something to experiment with.

I might try short trial of mega dose of B3 and see how I react, my oily skin seems to be starting up again after coming off a long fast(now 2 weeks post re-feed). B3 should drive down Zinc, from what I have read posted on the forum.

I have taken lithium orotate in the past, recommended from a hair mineral analysis plan, but it never decreased oily skin or seemed to affect histamine

@Orion
methionine reduces histamine, right? Try methionine .
Do you have also PE?

My bad.

Who had posted that, the quote text you are referencing?

You sure? I would not "try" but be rather sure....
After my hair test, and I have low copper thus they would want me to drive b3 down a bit, I was told to avoid B3.... Just to say it is an important vitamine and what if it has a bad effect? I would first look at the balance of the food you have now and figure out what to change. And then try to be more sure about a protocol.

BTW, i got oily hair and skin again just when I went to visit my family.... with alkaline water! I know some people who use lemon instead of soap.
I got a tremendous change for my skin and hair when I moved to this volcanic place!

I wish I had access to spring water for bathing, I am sure the city water is full of chloramine/chlorine... but the pH is at about 6.0 from testing strips, so not alkaline.

I did have PE issues in youth, but has subsided. Searching methionine shows that is could reduce histamine, so high protein diet, and getting histidine online for stomach acid could be helpful.

Well the only way to be sure is to experiment. :) so will give it a test

You should be careful with histidine. zinc finger coudl be upregulate or downregulated. you don't know. If you have oily skin, that means you have fast metabolism most likely.

I thought accutane people had really dry skin. If you have high metabolism then your histidine is probably high. and you need more methionine, copper, selenium

That is why I told you 2-3 times, specifically not to take anything after the fast. ,

Ya I have stopped any supplements and will focus on food only for now, but will try adding methionine/copper/selenium rich foods and see how I react. thanks

I have dry flaking skin, but I believe its due to the excessive oiliness, that makes the skin flake.

what were you taking now< honestly?

Why would you take any supplements after the fast. I told you not too. Zinc finger is a theory , we did not test it. Why would you screw up your fasting.

I tried histidine 250mg, serine 500mg and aspartic 500mg and used 1tsp brewers yeast per day for about 5 days, assuming I have high histamine, due to oily skin. During long fast oiliness reduced but didnt stop, during refeed oiliness was starting to increase, so thought maybe experiment to reduce histamine. But seemed to increase oiliness, so I may be the opposite as you suggested. But have stopped everything.

Reduce histamines with histidine? how? histidine is taken to increase histamines.

In any case, try copper route. with methionine , selenium potassium and magnesium

For some reason I thought the opposite, went through my notes I save of your posts again, and not sure how I mixed that up...

Ya I will focus on foods with copper, selenium, etc... thanks

You see , accutane, is active vitamin A. Vitamin A causes huge ceruloplasmin spike. Always. So may be it caused copper deficiency or copper overload in the cell. I am thinking about accutane. I think it has to do with copper. Copper deficiency would cause high histamines. since it is part of DAO enzyme.

but copper toxicity in the cell would cause low histamines and low histidine, which can also lead to eczema. and dry flaking skin

So it would be nice to try different things for you. like may be copper histidine, lysine. selenium

Or copper methionine potassium magnesium selenium. for cases where it is copper deficiency.

And in case of copper toxicity in the cell. you will need to dump your metabolism to zero for the body to get rid of copper from the cell.
