@mattyb agreed with this: as an recreational athlete (3x a week tennis for the last 5yrs or so) i find my energy and heath is much better drinking electrolytes. I no longer drink plain water. I use a sea mineral electrolyte supplement with lower sodium and higher magnesium which supports my htma (i had low magnesium and high sodium). Much better energy this way.

I think athletes will often need more mg and ca, but you still need to check theie htma.

It’s funny but golf seems to be most draining sport for me. Just being upright all day long beats me up sometimes especially when body chemistry is not in good place.

I think combination of electrolyte imbalances with outstanding toxicities (ammonia, Mercury) leads to a body being incapable of handling its own toxins and the brain getting beat up by it leading to fatigue.

That’s my theory at this point in time.

I do all of this except for drinking a lot of water.

And even while my testosterone (transitioning from TRT/AAS to natural T levels) is currently on the low side I am not losing strength. I keep my training shorter now but still heavy weight. Less volume.

Stan Efferding from The Vertical Diet recommends all these things. He says sodium is good for performance.

My current diet is pretty much The Vertical Diet: red meat (fatty ground beef) as main protein, rice as main carb, coconut water, sometimes banana with honey, 1-2 egg(s), sometimes spinach, good amount of salt with every meal. Plus some of the things from Helen electrolyte protocol. That is it. Very simple and cheap diet.

I also take 10 minute walk after every meal. This is also from The Vertical Diet. 10 minute walks help insulin sensitivity he argues and has studies to back it up. I like walking anyways. I walk 30 minute to an hour a day everyday.

I have a lot of mental energy and clarity. Even after heavy workout I can do long walks. I do feel more tired then when I was peaking with anabolic steroids obviously. But it shows power of quality food and minerals.
