I am wanting to do @gbolduev protocol with 30mg Zinc and 10 mg manganese for high copper. My husband is very anti this and says it will "kill you". He thinks the Zinc is too high and will deplete iron. Any help with this would be appreciated. I should add that I have low ferritin 30 but my hair test showed high tissue iron.

Im pretty sure a month of 10mg manganese and 30mg zinc/day wont do any harm. Just keep track of how you feel and if there isn’t any improvement, quit

So talked some more and he is fine as long as it is short term but would be interested to know if there is a Zinc/iron ratio requirement in case Zinc is needed long term.

Hello Shelly

I can't speak to what you're asking regarding zinc/iron... but vitamins and minerals are typically pretty safe... iron in babies could be an issue of overdose... but things like minerals found in food are typically safe so long as the dosage matches what one would generally be able to eat... meaning if you had 6 oysters, you're getting almost 35mg of zinc... never mind the rest of the food that day though most others are low in zinc. So if you started eating oysters everyday, would he still see it as deadly? Maybe the dinner bill but I would say no... further more, I've taken 100mgs of zinc a day at times in the past, I was pretty healthy but that would've been 18 oysters, which I couldn't do in 1 sitting but you get my drift... people are not dying from oysters (mercury poisoning not included)

Manganese is a little harder to come by... pineapple, peanuts & pecans for example have low amounts.... but again, you can get it with enough peanuts and barring an allergy, you'd reach 10mang in a day...

That's just my opinion though I would track any absorption contraindications (if I'm using it right) ... for example, taking X with Y is counter productive because they fight for absorption so split that into the day. Or after taking X, it lowers Y to include that. Calcium / magnesium is an example of this...

Obviously do what feels best but these dosages are generally low and acceptable... I personally don't know what your full diagnosis is but asking a doctor if a multivitamin that contains zinc and mang could ease all concern as well... I'm betting he'll say definitely

@joekool Dr wanted me to do 50mg of Zinc but only 4mg of manganese (husband freaked a bit at that) He knew someone who did high zinc and dropped iron dangerously low which is what he is concerned about, however when I questioned him further it seems the zinc was done over a long period of time.. Did a search and 40 mg is considered a safe daily limit. In food though I am sure it is different. Thanks for your insight though.

Yes, you do not have to go for peanuts only among nuts. There is a topic, but I would like to get the forum of minerals joined with the forum about food! I cannot tell you where it is between the 2...

Among nuts, only pumpkin is high is Ma AND in Zc at the same time, because it is the lowest in copper...
Mussels are very high, and cloves and cinnamon too!

Then the only food that is high in Zc without having a low ratio to Co, is meat...

Then Ii can tell you I supplemented in zinc, and I have now low copper, but still high iron!
