Juice Feasting

It's not the first time I've read about Juice Feasting and, as always, each person has its own formula. This is not good nor bad, but it just makes me more confused.

If you don't mind, I just have some simple questions I want to ask you Cdsnuts :

- I suppose a person loses much more weight doing a water fast... I am 5% body fat, so I am just wondering if it is possible to not lose too much weight doing a Juice Feast or even able to maintain weight (focusing a little bit more on sugary fruits...? Though, perhaps this may ruin the fast).

- Now regarding the ingredients: you say that a person must be drinking around 4-6 quarts of juice daily. But then I don't understand. So, you say that one must take these daily:
 • 1 pound of celery

 • 2 pounds of a variety of leafy greens (kale, spinach, lettuces, etc)

 • 1 cucumber

 • A variety of fruits such as apples, pears, carrots. (these all mix well with greens)

 • You can make stand alone juices such as a quart of fresh squeezed orange juice.

 • Pineapple Strawberry

 • Watermelon, celery.

I suppose the first three are "the must ingredients" and then the others, one can simple choose according what a person prefers.

Then, you do an example:
 • 1/4-1/2 bunch of celery

 • Half a large cucumber

 • A pound of mixed greens

 • Two apples

 • Two pears

However only these ingredients it is very far from making 4-6 quarts of juice. Do you simple multiply this recipe till it makes the 4-6 quarts of juice for a day? Or better, could you do an example of a list of ingredients of how 4-6 quarts of juice per day looks like?

I would certainly appreciate if you could enlighten me on these.

Firstly, you shouldn't be concerned with weight going into a juice feast. You're going to be getting enough calories to live on during this time so even though you may lose weight (depending on how heavy you are going into it), you can survive on juice for a very, very, very long time. It's not like water fasting where you're going to be taking in nothing for extended periods of time.

And you are correct in regards to the "must have's" which are the first three listed. The reason being is they will supply your body with the necessary minerals, sodium and electrolytes throughout the feast. You can spread them out in any way you see fit. As long as you're taking them in daily, you'll be fine.

Concerning the rest of the ingredients.....you can make them whatever you want. So basically as much fruit as it takes to hit 4-6 quarts daily is what you need to use. So for example, if you just make one of your quarts fresh squeezed orange juice (which was always one of my favorites) you'll probably need 8-10 medium sized oranges to hit your quart mark.

When making pineapple strawberry (again, another one of my favorites) you're going to use one whole pineapple and almost a pound of strawberries. That will equal one quart.

As you do this day in and day out, you'll learn how much of each fruit you're going to need to hit your designated daily amounts. You'll need to play around with this in the very beginning to learn how much to get, and how much of each fruit makes what you need. Once I found the juices I liked, I made the same five to six juices everyday for 45 days until I just got sick of making the damn juice....lol. You'll find your stride. That being said, you're looking at about a two hour ordeal every morning.

Ideally, you'll want to run this for AT LEAST two weeks, shooting for a month would be very powerful.
