I'm not sure what to think right now...

Shedding right now seems like it's down from baseline. Or perhaps about the same.

But... not sure if front is thinning... or not.

Not sure if my entire top is thinning, tbh, too.

I really am not sure....

It feels like it.

Also, I am getting facial acne for some reason, and my face is pretty oily now.

Wtf?

The fact that it's causing Facial Acne... why????

Also it seems like it's making my face more oily.

What's up with this?

Not sure if I should continue... :(

I am not convinced it's helping my hair, it feels thinner somehow..

detox man, you are taking heavy doses of MSM that is going to detox the fuck out of you, which causes breakouts, it happened to me mildy. You can read about it online, it happens to many people.

Did you add in silica or any aminos w/ zinc and copper yet?

Thanks for the reply.

I've read about the detox thing - but do we buy that? is it accurate? gbold is on board with that theory as well?

Is this the theory we're going with:

"msm allows your cells and tissues to release toxin that your body has stored over the years. If you start taking to much sulfur then the liver and kidneys can handle the body goes into detox mode. ( ie breakout, bowl movements, flu-like symptoms, ect)
The keys is to start of slow with msm so that the waste in your tissues & cells are released slowly enough for the liver and kidneys to be able to eliminate them accordingly. Drinking more water also aids the kidneys and liver in flushing out your body quickly."

???

I can cut my dosage down perhaps and see.

I've been brushing my hair a lot over the past 1-2 hrs. I must be shedding less. I am not really shedding anything...

I am worried about my left side hairline though, the hair seems to be softening (which I've read can happen on MSM) but just hope it's not getting thinner.

I think I am noticing dark is naturally darker already, btw. Which I assume can only be good...

Nice article about MSM from a doctor: Benefits of MSM

BTW... My hand injury is almost fully healed now. Foot injury is a thing of the past. It is the shit for sports.

Since it rids body of toxins.. is it possible it is fighting my transplanted hair???

My left side transplanted hair seems thinner than before... it is worrisome.

It COULD just be my imagination but man, I don't know.

I am going to stop taking it for now and assess in a week. :(

SULFUR SUPPLEMENTS

MSM For Joint Problems. Some people take MSM or methylsulfonylmethane to relieve joint pain, or for other reasons. It is a semi-synthetic sulfur compound.

I do not recommend this product. If you follow a nutritional balancing program, you will not need it. Also, it is extremely yin in macrobiotic terminology. As a result, it will interfere with your overall health and it will slow or stop development.

It lowers copper and acts as a remedy only. A much better way to get rid of joint pain and other connective tissue symptoms is to remove the irritants and toxic metals that are causing the problem. MSM does not do this very well.

Organic sulfur. A few supplement companies sell organic sulfur as a food supplement. I do not recommend this product because it is somewhat toxic. It is easy to get plenty of sulfur from foods by eating meats, eggs, some dairy products, and loads of cooked vegetables.

What's the consensus on what Dr Wilson preaches on here? I've been following his protocol of eating loads of veg with ample protein for a month now and my hair is shedding like crazy and has become lifeless. Really stressing me out if it's related to this 'diet' or something else.

Feb 22nd, 2018.

I stopped using MSM today.

My transplanted hair is definitely thinning on it, no idea why?????????? Perhaps because it's chelating too much copper??????

Left side hairline hit the hardest... when it wasn't a concern before, scary.

I hate this.

I just ordered 3-4 other tubs and received them today, from iherb, didn't even open the box, hope I can return it..

Diet changed to veg Dr Wilson advocates on his website plus protein. Hair is shedding much more than before and has noticeably lost some density. Trying to ascertain whether shed is part of 'detox' of body expelling older hairs in exchange for new growth or whether there is another reason. Vegetables I'm consuming aren't organic and I'm wondering if sudden increase in veg (and thus pesticides) could be causing an issue. This hairloss thing is very confusing. You try to do the right thing, only for it to make matters worse. I.e. your intake of MSM in this thread being a good example!

The whole point of this forum is that there is no one-size-fits all diet or treatment for everyone. You have to consider your unique situation, experiment, and see what works for you, then make adjustments. Don't just blindly follow advice, it takes a more active approach than that. I'm not trying to berate you, I just want to make it painfully clear that everyone is unique.

I appreciate the words @mattyb and get where you're coming from. If only a one size fit all did apply, how much easier would our lives be! :)

I dont understand the organic vegetable focus in the US. Protected crops (greenhouse grown) has far less need for pesticides already, and are more likely to be fresh as its often more local. Natural pesticides are generally not really healthier either...The larger use of pestides is on broadacre crops in the first place. The non gmo label on some veggies is also funny, gmo is far too expensive for veggie crops, its a label that applies to all veggies atm.

How the fuck is MSM thinning your transplanted hair only? You sure about that dude, and it is not in your head or your mirror or something LOL? Are you sure you aren't detoxing/herxing you are taking a boatload of MSM without even titrating up.

I'm not sure... my left side was looking scary though :(

Technically... transplanted hair is a foreign agent... maybe that's why?

It could be the detox too but... I've read some other stories of it hurting ppl's hair. I'm a bit worried.

I sent the MSM back, and stopped for now.

I may try again someday but heh...

Just curious @JonnyCraig, at what age did you do your HT?

Edit: Oh okay, at that age. I thought maybe you did it even younger like really young like at 24 or something (which would be a terrible mistake). Drop the msm man, and if you must - restart later at a way lower dose and titrate upwards.

I am supplementing with copper btw... to up my copper levels post MSM.

Why is it so widely believed that on MSM, the reason you feel like shit (headaches, etc, and get acne) is due to DETOXING? IDK if I buy that shit...
