Completed 54 day fast, from Oct 16th to last Saturday Dec 9th, combined 1 week water fast and 7 week Breuss fast(juice and teas). Found the fast was actually fairly easy to get through, energy was quite low in the final 8th week, but I was still able to work, walk, sleep well, take care of child, etc... My goal was skin and hair health, after two time post accutane use. Never really had libido or mental sides, just really bad oily skin(acne mainly face, neck, chest, back and upper arms), lots of hair shedding and sluggish metabolism. At end of fast skin is near perfect, still hair shedding though.

I am 6,2(188cm), and went from 205lb to 195lb on a 14 day water fast in Sept, and from 195lb to 150lb on this fast. I am quite lean now, muscle mass does seem to have been preserved quite well, but strength is definitely down, starting weightlifting again today, and will slowly start to increase strength back.

My heartrate stayed at ~78bpm throughout the fast, and my morning basal temp never went below 98.0C

Only two major complaints of the fast were cold hands, very hard to keep them warm, this would only happen at work though, building not kept very warm, no issues at home or when mobile. Second was mood could easyily shift, very easy to get grumpy!

Breaking fast with; Broth(chicken and vegetable), egg, rice, lemon, well cooked vegg (onions, celery, carrot, garlic, cauli, broc, beet, daikon, cabbage, kale, collard, chard, lettuce, spinach, parsley) Following MattyB's outline, with gboldeuv's rec's of egg lemon soup.

Have been using Betaine HCl, but will attempt to cut it out, not sure if needed, and might be best to avoid for now. Will try small amounts of malic acid instead.

Also using very small amounts of brewers yeast for B's and aminos, less then 1tsp.

Going forward will use this log to track skin, hair and body comp health, weekly/monthly post fast re-feed and progress.

Nice, brother. I am proud of you. Not many people attempt long fasts. Looking young , right? people around me dont recognize me after long fasts. But I always swim in the ocean during fasts.

I have been waiting for you to start posting about your experiences and results from this fast. May I ask how old you are?

Skin looks much younger and healthier bigtime, bests it ever looked, but with how lean I look, skin is lacking abit fullness, I suspect with the re-feed it will plump back up.

I was doing really really good CFS wise post fast. Digestion/metablolism- 1 bowel movement daily to 3 or 4, food allergies demolished, fatigue biggg difference where I was really enjoying exercise and had plenty of energy to do stuff afterwards.

I took RU486 for 3 days 2 weeks after I completed the fast and it set me back in pretty much all of the areas listed above by blocking cortisol. Day 13 post RU and cortisol is coming back stronger each and every day so all of those symptoms are again improving significantly. I'm seeing what I really wanted out of RU though- sexual issues improving quite a bit.

Next time I fast (most likely in March), I will not be using RU afterward, but I'm glad I did this time.

The weight loss is insane man, I bet if you started packing on some muscle now you would look like a totally different person. You are my height so I can relate to the changes in weight.

Bigtime, very vascular now, definitely would like to get back up to 175, but add that as mainly water, gylcogen, and muscle weight... see how the next year goes.

Nice! And you def can take advantage of that increased insulin sensitivity which should even help you pack on muscle easier too. I remember coming off my fast my muscles were super sensitive to carbs, my muscles like blew up and got even more vascular.

Day 6 re-feed today, up to 3 eggs for lunch and 3 egg with dinner.

In my post 3 day and 14 day water fasts, white tongue coating came back right away, so far tongue is nice and pink and completely clear.

Starting to get my congested overnight sleeping, in past one nostril would always block up overnight, on the long fast this went away, could be a histamine thing... also extremely dry cold winter weather now.

Lastly only other thing to report is cramping during the day, but this feels like bowel actually moving, as they have not felt anything for 2 months, strange sensation that comes and goes, maybe stretching out...

If you have always had problems with nasal congestion, consider trying out a xylitol nasal spray like Xlear (awful name, I know). Xylitol works by breaking down biofilm, which many people with nasal polyps have chronically. Even just the saline aspect of the nasal spray will help with the dry climate.

The winters here are super super dry, so I can relate to this feeling of congestion. I am probably going to try out some saline or xylitol spray on myself because I find the dry winters are awful on airways.

Finished 1 week re-feed

Everything seems to be sticking so far, this means skin is looking great(best ever for me), no excessive sebum/oil production, no breakouts. Hair looks good, still shedding more then I would like. But I do see very tiny little vellus hairs, along the receding thinning line, so time will tell, they are very small and thin, but hoping its a sign of things to come... I continue to use lethicin/polysorbate every Sat/Sun and leave to soak for about ~45mins each morning. Also use a very saline salt spray every other day on scalp.

For the re-feed focused on broths, tons of well cooked vegg and greens(leek, onions, celery, carrot, garlic, cauli, broc, celeriac, beets and beet greens, daikon, red cabbage, kale, collard, chard, lettuce, spinach, parsley), 1/2 cup dry rice per day, little quinoa added to rice, added one extra egg each day, so by day 6 was at 6 eggs per day. Up'd butter and olive content each day, but it was less then TBsp per day. Added in some chicken yesterday, and will be adding tuna today, beef and shrimp later this week. Also 2 caps of HCl per day, one after each big meal mixed in water. The HCl might be the biggest factor, getting aminos absorbed properly

I have been doing IF(18-6) each day, my eating window is 6hrs; noon til 6pm. One big meal at noon, the other at 5pm, no snacking in between. Due to my new cortisol sensitivity, I can go a long time without feeling hungry, makes mornings easy to get ready and out of the house for work or adventure.

Lower digestive tract felt really weird all week, lots of stretching, cramping, filling back in, not bad, just on and off discomfort... 2 months with no food, so they took some time adjusting, bowels movements came back full on during day 2 re-feed, all good in that area. I am up to 155lbs this morning(5lbs gained back)

Eggs seem to be covering my requirements for cysteine and methionine, started experimenting with histidine 250mg/serine 500mg/aspartic 500mg, they do seem to quickly have effect on skin quality. Gbolduev has mentioned to not start taking them, but I do think they are helping things stick and others are giving good testamonials in the other thread.

Some supps I have used in small amounts: B1, B2, B3, B6, zinc carnosine, selenium, molybdenum, taurine, 1tsp brewers yeast, 1tsp bee pollen

Plan to use Thorne Extras once a week, half serving (3caps), just to cover off, boron, chromium, manganese etc...

Only issue I am having is my sleep, I can do 6hrs, then I am wide awake, and having hard time falling back asleep. So I sleep from say 10pm to 4am, then in and out, but not deep sleep til 6am, would love to be able to make it 8hrs straight. I guess cortisol is peaking a bit to high, see how this week goes as I add in more calories.

I don't now about you... but when I am half awake in the morning I love it! As long as I do not fall asleep again. If I do, then I wake up not refreshed at all. But if I stay half awake and just enjoyed the warmth, quiteness and silence, I enjoy the confortable feeling, and more over it is my best moment for lucid thinking. if I had been making some plans the day before, all the ideas seem to fall in place. It is as if during the day I had been gathering the material, and it has been organized by itself in my brain, and then in the morning my inner wise is talking to me!

I am very happy to hear good news and that your cortisol sensitivity is such! Jusy with a little fast Ii got a difference, and being able to not eat all the time is such a luxury! Have you planned to take some green bitters in the morning with no other calories to keep the fast and get some hcl benefit?

Started this morning, just had some 5mins ago, 2hrs before first meal. Spinach, kale, malic acid and olive oil.
