A month or two after crashing I had SHBG of 32 nmol/l. Over time this has increased and for the last 3 years has never been below 40 nmol/l.

A Dr put me on a Test Enanthate trial which for the first day I felt almost cured, woke up with morning wood as before, felt muscular and confident then it disappeared. I stayed on the Test for around 7 months and had a lot of bloods but never felt good. Morning wood was there but not as hard and I still had little libido and no spontaneous erections. The lowest the TRT managed to lower my SHBG to was 40 nmol/l. Before TRT my SHBG was ranging between 45-50 nmol/l. I was on a proper protcol with HCG. No AI as I have had very low e2 prior to TRT. I cycled off slowly.

Since coming of the TRT 2 years ago my SHBG has escalated into the 80's but through herb cycling and healthy living has come back down into the high 50's.

My last test was November 2018. I will add that this was whilst cycling the herbs which I believe is the cause of the high LH. On previous tests post TRT it sits between 4-6iu/L

LH - 8iu/L (1-9)
FSH - 5.0 iu/L (1-10)
Total Test - 20 nmol/L
Oestradiol - 93 pmol/L (<130)
SHBG - 58 nmol/L (15-40) Outside reference range

I took a small dose of B1 the other day to attempt what @Goose12 did. I felt a mild boost initially but crap after. Feel anaesthetized down there the last few days. Don't know if this means anything but raising my DHT may make me feel worse? Or maybe I did not take enough B1 (200mg) to do anything to DHT. I just noticed it got worse after the B1.

I will have new blood results shortly so I will post them here as well as my log. I do not feel any different sexually but I am interested to see if TEI has done any drastic changes to my bloods.

Tongkat ali is helpful at lowering SHBG

The tests I posted above were using Super Man Herbs Tongkat twice a week. I think it was doing something to SHBG but not strong enough unfortunately. I still like Tongkat for some of its effects though.

Hello, @Helen and everyone, I recently did some labs . I checked my DHT, my free DHT, test , free test, and 3a Androstanediol G. If anyone remembers I took Avodart several months ago, and I took Fin several years ago . My symptoms are still bald, and ED at most times. I sometime feel completely recovered, and then somehow my ED comes back. My mood and energy is usually very good. Lately I've been taking small doses of T3, topical preg. I bought some test, and since then felt impotent. I don't do well on test. T3 seems to help though, I use Cynomel.

Testosterone- 532ng/dl ref range (251-1100) down from 650
free test 58.7 pg/ml ref range (35.0-155.0)
DHT 29 ng/dl ref range (16-79) up from 24
free DHT 2.14 pg/ml ref range (1.00-6.20) pg/ml
3a Androstanediol Glucuronide 2207 ng/dl HIGH ref range (251-1503 ng/dl)
Aldosterone 12 ng/dl ref range <25
Progesterone 0.1 ng/ml ref range <0.2

So, any body have any ideas. My 3a Andro G is super high. Is this my reason for balding?
My free test is low
my DHT is kinda low too.

Besides noticing lower-ish DHT, it might have been cool to see estrogen levels

ok so, I now know what's happening. My 3a HSD is degrading my DHT into 3a diol g. which is also blocking 5ar , so I am not making any new DHT. So as you see my DHT is low on labs. So high 3a diol G is implicated in both Male and female balding. Damn, I need to figure this out. @Helen , Do I need to block 3a HSD? What can I do?

3a adiol G is inactive hormone. DHT is converted to 3 adiol, and then 3 adiol goes thru glucorindation. and turns into 3 adiol G.
In PFS a huge majority of people have low 3a adiol G.

were these tests taken on thyroid? thyroid is known to increase 3 adiol G
and also what is your SHBG

@Helen , Yes, I have been doing t3 for like a month now. I was on Preg and T3 during these test. Unfortunately , I did not test SHBG. I will though. What will that tell me?

How long were you running the tongat for prior to the tests? Maybe it could take a few months before seeing real changes?

Here is an interesting study claiming that dht lowers shbg and that boys with 5 alpha reductase deficiency have high shbg because testosterone doesn't convert to dht. The study was done with prepubertal boys but I think it still rings true. Dihydrotestosterone regulates plasma sex-hormone-binding globulin in prepubertal males. - PubMed - NCBI
My SHBG is certainly absurdly high, over 150 (normal range is like 20-60). I wonder if this is common with people taking fin or dut since their DHT is so low?

Your shbg is crazy high! My shbg is in the upper range and so is my dht. What are your dht levels?

I think some of our issues is that dht in blood is high but low in the brain and also 5alph is low in the brain and high in the rest of the body. Helen has mentioned this before.

I wonder if we feed everything high in the blood to get some kind of snap back and increase levels in the brain?

What is the difference between DHT and Testosterone effects on the body? Or do they usually go up and down together?

This was my fairly recent saliva tests. These are the only hormones I've been able to have checked so far. My total testosterone was good. My progesterone was on the lower side.

What is the difference between DHT and Testosterone effects on the body? Or do they usually go up and down together?

DHT has pronounced effects on neurochemistry (it affects neurotransmitters in the brain). DHT has been shown to increase circulating epinephrine levels (adrenaline), this can cause anxiety in predisposed individuals, however, most of the time, this is not the case, since DHT also increases GABA activity in the brain, which is relaxing (10)(11)(12). So in other words, DHT should promote A focused, calm burst of energy, which is what many users of DHT-based steroids, report as the "alpha-male" feeling (13)(14). Dihydrotestosterone increase central and nervous system energy production by increasing not just adrenaline, but cyclic AMP (15). This molecule increase thermogenesis (fat-burning and heat production)(16). Cyclic AMP facilitates the conversion of TSH thyroid hormone, to T4, a more potent thyroid hormone, thus, indirectly, DHT increases thyroid function (by increasing cyclic AMP) (17).
