I’ll be the first! I really think this is gonna be the cure for me. All my problems relate back to my adrenal insufficiency!
What makes you think you have adrenal insufficiency? Didn't you say you tested high for DHEA-S, thats an adrenal steroid which would indicate adrenal hyperactivity. All-trans retinoic acid-induced hypothalamus–pituitary–adrenal hyperactivity involves glucocorticoid receptor dysregulation This paper indicates that accutane causes HPA hyperactivity by preventing glucocorticoids such as cortisol from exerting negative feedback on the hypothalamus. This is in part mediated by preventing glucocorticoid receptor function. If these effects remain beyond accutane use (BIG IF), we would have hyperactive or overactive adrenal glands as there is diminished negative feedback. If this paper has relevance, our problems may revolve around glucocorticoid insensitivity. I'm researching and writing some info about this as we speak.
If glucocorticoid receptor theory works, then our symptoms would be very similar/identical to the symptoms of adrenal insufficiency/fatigue as these conditions are caused by a lack of cortisol production, leading to less cortsiol/glucocorticoid receptor activation. Which has the same end result of cortisol/glucocorticoid receptor insensitivity.
Given this, RU would help as it antagonizes glucocorticoid receptor, which would upregulate glucocorticoid receptors and make our bodies more sensitive/responsive to glucocortcoids.
