My situation: post finasteride syndrome from propecia.

Treatments: I used whey protein plus potassium chloride to treat my pfs. Worked my way up gradually with potassium. I started very small and then worked my way up to 2g per day. When I was on the higher dosages, I felt really bad. Electric shocks through my body, felt my copper go even lower, anxiety, racing heart etc etc. Improvement began happening a couple of weeks after quitting whey plus potassium chloride.

Hair results are attached.

Blood results coming next week.

Points to note:

Low copper, high zinc, extremely high boron.

Iron a bit high too considering I have very little iron in my diet.

Would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Note also I had been taking potassium this year. Stopped it 8 weeks before the hair test. Not sure if some of the hair would have come from the time I was taking the potassium.

Blood tests as follows:

Sodium 141 mmol/L (135 - 145)
Potassium 4.3 mmol/L (3.5 - 5.5) - note my potassium increased from 3.8 post potassium dosing
Chloride 102 mmol/L (95 - 110)
Bicarb 28 mmol/L (20 - 32)
Urea 5.6 mmol/L (3.0 - 8.0)

Magnesium 0.90 mmol/L (0.70 - 1.10)
Corrected Calcium 2.33 mmol/L (2.15 - 2.55)

Zinc 14.4 umol/L (9.0 - 19.0)
Copper 17 umol/L (12 - 22)

B1 200 nmol/L (66 - 200)
B2 230 nmol/L (180 - 470)

Iron 17 umol/L (5 - 30)
TRF 2.6 g/L (2.0 - 3.2)
TRF Sat 26 % (10 - 45)
Ferritin 67 ng/mL (30 - 500)

@Troy Are you going to get the supps and follow the program? I'm not sure of the reasons for the high boron, but it looks like it might result in you wasting vitamin B2.

Very high levels can contribute to osteoporosis and increased urinary excretion of riboflavin.

Boron

Do you get dry skin, oily skin, or just normal? I'm guessing oily?

Yeah I'm naturally an oily skin person. Have been my whole life.

I was taking potassium so that may have caused the high boron on my test.

Don't plan on doing the program yet. Getting blood's back next week. Was hoping there might be a quicker way to fix than ARL or TEI.

Interesting to hear @Helen 's thoughts.

@Troy

I think boron went up from potassium

How are you feeling now.
I feel relatively decent. Much improved than prior to potassium.

But still feel lowish on estrogen due to the low copper.

What can I do to get my copper up and my zinc down? I was thinking magnesium plus b2?

I was surprised at my calcium, magensium, sodium and potassium. They are relatively good. Overall it was a better result than I was expecting. I was expecting to be way out there.

Should I just take copper now with some potassium and magnesium to get my copper levels up?

I think you are restored from PFS

but there is might be problems caused by ventolin. It might have upregulated your adrenaline or downregulated

and thus you are using less copper and cobalt.

I would wait, a little since potassium might have fixed that issue, and now the body is still balancing it.

Okay thanks. Will do. I'll report back in with blood tests next week (Tuesday or Wednesday I'll go to get them).

You should mention in your log that you took potassium high dose and how you felt. otherwise people will think you were doing good on it and just taking it ))

You should tell people that you could not tolerate one bit of potassium when you started to take it.

So people understand that the cure comes from things that make you feel bad

What did you do out of interest to fix your adrenaline issues from ventolin?

I won't do anything now but just curious as to how you fix.

@Troy You should test your blood for electrolytes. and test specifically calcium

Since in alkalosis with potassium depletion , usually calcium is also very low in blood

And they replete those simultaneously with IVs

@Helen it is possible that taking potassium lead to high zinc on hair test due to the body making it biounavailable in order to decrease progesterone ?

Not sure to be honest. I did take a supplement with zinc in it for a couple of years with my pfs. Maybe that has caused my zinc levels to go too high

Amen. I loaded on potassium for a day last week trying to mimic you @Troy and Had libido surge the following late afternoon, night. But on it I felt like shit.

I’m working on mycoplasma/Lyme hard, really not pfs right now at all actually making pfs worse with some things I’m doing like Oxygen breathing. But I think these potassium, b1 loading type things make a lot of sense and looking forward to trying when I’m ready to do so.

Would love to see others follow.

Does high blood calcium indicate acidosis then? Which is better?
