Weird's TEI Log

Hi everyone, found this forum through reading Gbolduev's posts on assorted other forums over the years, leading me here.

When I was 17 (33 now) I took Cipro for 6 months and then Accutane for another 6 months. I have Crohn's disease, along with an assortment of hormonal and cognitive issues commonly seen here. What stabilized many symptoms for years was Chinese Medicine, but it hasn't been working lately.

So I've decided to try TEI for the first time. I have previously tried too many things to list for now. But I'll fill everyone in on my story if I get some success with this. Attached is my first report and supplement suggestions. I'm reading lots of posts here to bring myself up to speed, but it's a lot to take in. I have a few questions if any knowledgable person could weigh in on, I'd appreciate it:

1 - Why is TEI suggesting Vitamin E? What role does that serve in my case?

2 - Why has @Helen repeatedly said that Fast Oxidizers (I'm Fast 1) need sugar/carbs? Calcium and Copper I understand, but where Helen seems to differ from ARL/TEI is his suggestion to increase carbs. I find it interesting because I feel MUCH better with a high carb diet (and high fat, protein, etc) whereas the traditionally recommended "low-carb" fast-oxidizer diet always makes me feel like crap. (The tragedy is Crohn's disease seems to respond favorably to a low carbohydrate in just about everyone, but I can't seem to make it work without my energy endlessly crashing.)

3 - Is it safe to be downing this much calcium supplements? I'd read calcium supplements were dangerous for the heart? Maybe I read that on a Ray Peat post...

4 - Any other comments on my hair analysis are welcome. I'm fairly new to this approach. Thanks!

I am also Fast 1 oxidizer. You can see my hairtests in the signature.

You can eat some carbs IMO, even on TEI. Just don't overdo it if they don't recommend it. I eat them on workout days. Plain white rice. For the rest I get it from full fat milk and full fat yoghurt and vegetables. Also eat enough fat red meat - it gives good energy.

Calcium supps w/o vitamin D are dangerous as far as I know. But all the calcium supps from TEI are with vitamin D.

I took calcium plus before and had no problems - no heart pain and stuff.

I would just start. Look at my hair tests they are different every time. TEI uses algorithm or at least a system to give recommendations. So there is always a reason why they give stuff. I don't know enough about it to say what the vitamin E does.

I see the vitamin E is recommended a lot for people w/ PFS (and PAS). I also got it this next round I am going to start soon.

Are you on any medication for crohns?
Currently, no. I respond so poorly to all the Crohn's meds (particularly the immunosuppressants.) But I'm not currently in remission either. Low carbohydrate diets work extremely well for Crohn's...meaning below 72 grams of carbs. (I personally think it's the reason diets like Specific Carbohydrate Diet work.) But I never seem to adapt to low carb and just deteriorate in all other ways. So something needs to change...

Day 2 on TEI supplements. The copper supplement is making me feel unbelievably awful. Holy cow. Metallic taste in mouth. Brain feels like it's floating in helium? Mixture of fatigue and feeling like I could go run a marathon. Histamine feeling on skin. Feel like I'm getting sick and feverish constantly. Totally unable to work or deal with anything. Any ideas why this might be happening, like what might be a plausible explanation for this kind of reaction to copper when I apparently needs loads of it?

I am 100% sure it's from the copper.

Yeahhhhhhhhhh buddyyyyy. I am also on copper. Don't feel too bad TBH but definitely light in the head and sometimes irritated like I want to attack someone.

It gets better after being on it for a while

You have very similar supps to me I think except I also have magnesium

Yikes. I can understand the plausible negative reaction to copper if we were slow oxidizers (being copper toxic) but why the shit are we having nasty reactions to copper when we're deficient in it? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, unless it's A - Helping to kill an infection or B - Mobilizing heavy metals

I think you need to get used to it. In the beginning I was overwhelmed by it. After a while it is OK. Copper can kill candida as well I think. And yes retracing is possible:

ARL : Understanding Retracing And Healing Reactions

It could also be your first cycle is not 100% right. I would keep your first cycle short. Like 1,5 month to 2 months.

Vitamin E can also cause reactions - I saw some guys on the forums having trouble with it.

Thanks. It isn't the vitamin E in my case, as I added in each one at a time to test my reactions. But it doesn't surprise me that Vitamin E causes negative reactions, when I posted the other day asking WHY some of us were even being given Vitamin E, nobody had a thing to say...

I'll stick with it for a little bit.

Yeah I'm on tons of copper as well, it was horrid when I first started but as time went on it got better. Also you can try taking one or two dose a day instead of the full three. It should make it more tolerable

It’s possible you’re copper toxic @Weird . And copper isn’t right supplement for you. You may need zinc to displace that hidden copper toxicity and make copper bioavailable.

I have practitioner that may have better view for you on this stuff as I was one with hidden copper toxicity. Copper wasn’t good for me. TEI prescribed copper. I talked to practitioner and she put me on zinc/manganese instead along with her program and doing so much bettter.

Practitioner is very cheap only $65 and viewed my system very similarly to how @Helen saw it.

Helen do you think he could be fast oxi, copper toxic?

Thanks! Both ARL and TEI say to have me on fair amounts of copper, so I would be surprised if I'm copper toxic.. Would be curious for @Helen's take as well. If he says something is fishy, I'll definitely take an appointment with your practitioner.

I also got a lot of copper this around.

Zinc + manganese + vitamin C made me feel worse after being on it for two months. Became very catabolic/lack of pump in the gym.

But I am guessing the run with zinc + manganese + C made my estrogen receptors more sensitive by lowering copper all over. Now add copper back in and it seems to do me good. Or I was copper toxic in the brain and the zinc + mang + C fixed this.

I actually feel pretty good on this supplements (copper + manganese + vit E + magnesium + calcium) for the most part.

It seems we all have a bit different issue. I think you can trust the program. I am still alive and doing better than before TEI that is for sure.

That is exactly why you are having a metallic taste in your mouth, it's all normal detox symptoms. It will be interesting to see your next test to see what you are pushing out.
