What happened and what direction should I move in?

I have had PSSD for a few years now, and recently I had been experiencing very positive effects from naltrexone (potentially as a result of raising LH and therefore T) in combination with boron (extra free T). During the month I was using this combo, I had many windows of near-normalcy (spontaneous erections, morning wood, better libido, and sustainable erections, all of which were harder to come by before).

Now, here's where I fucked up: I ended up taking some poppy pod tea (basically long-lasting opium tea) a few times. The first couple times, I felt fine when it wore off. During my use, I even oddly had extremely high libido (but lower erectile function and inability to come). So, the last time I used it, I decided to cut the "high" short by taking Naltrexone (as to prevent my t from lowering too much in response to the long half life/duration of action of tea).

After taking the naltrexone before bed, I woke up with a completely useless bubble gum dick and heavy anxiety. I couldn't even get it up with stmulation.

The sexual function has returned to mostly baseline.

I have not taken any supplements or drugs for two weeks now, and my basal anxiety levels still seem.very, very high (I think related to cortisol, but I'm going to get a test done soon). I have a constant knot in my stomach and get stressed by the most basic of tasks.

Anyone have any theories s as to what might have happened?

How should I move forward? I'm thinking first a blood test, and if cortisol is high, I may give naltrexone another chance to correct my HPA axis (though scared of making it worse). I also am considering trying RU486 if I can find a source. This looks extremely promising, as I believe my receptors are insensitive to cortisol after years of heavy, heavy stress combined with ssri use and benzo withdrawal.

Thanks for reading and would appreciate any suggestions. Reading this board can become overwhelming with people moving in so many different directions.

I think ru is a good idea. Hopefully it will get you our of a high anxiety state like it did me. After doing ru I would jump on tei or cdsnuts protocol. Both protocols have seen good success rates and they are the only approved protocols on this forum.

Here is a link to CD's protocol and forum Total Male Optimization
Post Finasteride Syndrome

Here is a link to a YouTube channel about nutritional balancing. They do arl but it relates a lot to tei Deep Healing Space

And here is a link for hair test Evenbetternow.com Natural Health Products and Supplements

Of course there is a ton of good info on this site and the search engine on here is very helpful.

were you taking low dose naltrexone? what was you regimen with naltrexone.

@Goose12 I appreciate the info. Are there any major risks of RU? It seems sources are scarce and unreliable. I've also seen super variable dosage, anywhere from 25mg to 800mg.

What did your anxiety look like before and how does it look now? Did you have your cortisol measured before trying it? (I'm almost certain mine is extremely high given how reactive my stress response is, but I haven't formally checked it). Any other hormonal tests I should do to verify I'm a good candidate for this drug?

It seems GR antagonism and subsequent sensitization/upregulation could be a huge breakthrough in mental health treatment. It seems to be most depression/anxiety/PTSD is a result of HPA axis dysregulation (which Antidepressants can fix to an extent, but come with a slew of nasty sides, most notably fucking PSSD).

@Helen throughout the entire month of May, I was experimenting with various doses. It wasn't super consistent. From the papers I've read, you don't need much Naltrexone to nearly completely saturate mu receptors (so whether you take 5mg or 50mg isn't super relevant). Furthermore, the short half life (and even longer half-life of its metabolite) are NOT at all predictive of duration of blockage. Both 5mg and 25mg tend to block my receptors for similar time -- I'd usually be able to feel opiates (pod tea) again after some 5 days.

I took 5mg all the way up to 50mg. Larger doses generally led to greater sexual function (i.e., higher libido and much better erections), likely through kappa antagonism and enhancement of the mesolimbic dopamine pathway, as well as the obvious increase in LH/T.

one thing to note is that I had morning wood / nocturnal erections throughout almost the entire month of May experimentation. Previously, these were very rare (only sometimes alcohol or other drugs would cause them). I didn't have any MW during my Prozac use (8 months), nor did I have it return after discontinuing.

@JustPanicNoDisco 3 possibilites

1) you were taking naltrexone and upregulated opiod receptors a lot if you were constantly on nalterxone. and then you took an opiod, which affected your calcium potassium channel greatly . and thus anxiety.

2) you were taking nalterxone and actually were upregulating the opiod production pathway, and making your opiod system stronger. So when you come off naltrexone, it will be stronger.

3) you took an opiod, downregulated opiod production, pathway, and then took naltrexone which blocked the receptor - end effect zero opiods

@Helen thanks for the possible explanations. I should note that I did not have any naltrexone on my system when I took the drug (or very little). I took the poppy tea, and after approximately 8 hours, I took the naltrexone to end it. I woke up sweaty and fearful, and have had some negative symptoms since.

Is it possible antagonizing my receptors when they were agonized so heavily caused my HPA axis to flip out? I understand the basics of the HPA negative feedback, but not sure how the drugs would apply here...

In addition to anxiety, I've also noticed much worse digestion since this event. At first I attributed it to constipation from the opioids, but even after using mg citrate to "clear things out," I'm still getting a lot of stomach discomfort weeks later. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish between anxiety and actual stomach upset.

Some of the racetams seem interesting for anxiety and choline or dopamine resets. Fasoracetam was suggested to me as a truer ‘xanax’ so I’m still researching but there’s several out there which might be an avenue to try

@JustPanicNoDisco there is a risk that ru could do nothing or make you worse. There is a case on here where someones baseline was lowered with ru and they started losing hair.

Tei and cdsnuts protocol are much safer routes. You can't go wrong with either one. Any other protocol is just experimental.

Never tested bloods before ru but my anxiety and insomnia were terrible. Maybe a hour of sleep at night at 15 minute intervals for months. Anxiety was constant racing mind with no off switch. Looking back at everything I don't know how I still went to work and didn't go to a mental institution. Currently anxiety levels are completely normal due to Randro, ru, and tei.

I recommend you go on tei as soon as possible. The important thing is to make sure you are not taking anything that will effect your hair test.

@vicecaz az - I sourced it from alldaychemist

@joekool - thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it.

@Goose12 - what's TEI? I looked over CDNUTS' protocol, and I already practice some of what he suggests (mostly Paleo diet, weight lift a few times a week, and try to meditate when I can). I would like to do the juice fast, as I have abused my body with waaaaay too many prescription medications and alcohol use over the last few years.

I haven't had my hormone levels checked yet (planning to soon), but I am oddly very lean and quite muscular. Also, my hairline is receding. t
would seem, in that case, my T and DHT levels would be fine. However, because the naltrexone/boron combo was so effective, I'm not sure what to think anymore...

So much information all over the web about different causes and treatment approaches of these shit conditions. Doesn't seem like there's much concensus, but I agree, a protocol like CDDnurts' won't hurt and will improve general health.
