Day 3 is done,

Thinking about supplementing potassium (losalt, 1/3 sodium 2/3 potassium).

End of day 3. Feeling hungry, energy is kinda low.

Thinking about supplementing potassium (losalt, 1/3 sodium 2/3 potassium). Necessary?

If you plan to fast for a very long time, then yes, it will eventually become necessary.

LoSalt has bad ratios though, you want more sodium than potassium. So you have to add extra sea or table salt (NaCl) to it in a 2:1 ratio (twice as much salt as losalt). Eventually you'll want to add magnesium as well.

Ok thanks. Why more sodium though?

Ok thanks. Why more sodium though?

Potassium is hypotensive (lowers BP) and sodium is hypertensive (raises BP). If you are fasting, you are much more likely to become hypotensive, so you want more sodium. Urinary loss of sodium is much higher than urinary loss of potassium as well. You lose about twice as much sodium in urine compared to potassium, which is why most rehydration beverages have sodium and potassium in a 2:1 ratio.

It’s 6 am and im wide awake. Face is looking gaunt and its only been a week probably from water weight loss. I am tired but cant really sleep. Feeling some kind of high, same feeling as i get after a hard workout.

Lets go, week 2

I remember going through that stage when I did my 30 day water fast 5 years ago. You will come out the other side. Good on you, you are doing great!

Almost 2 weeks in, day 12 now. I am having the worst headaches i’ve ever had. Sharp pain and pounding head, feels like a migraine.

My legs are also cramping up, especially calves and glutes.

I'm hoping the best for you over here.

Remember, you can supplement sodium/potassium as needed to get those cramps down.

wow that's impressive, reaching 12 days on just water is quite the feat. Just be careful ofc. I'm, sure you're aware of the risks, but Water-fasting for that many days is potentially dangerous:)

Jason, why fear words? I understand being kind to others and care though...

Nina, sounds like high cortisol, so your receptores will go down.

I agree some electrolits might do you good... Also drink enough.

Wow great job! @Nina keep it up, and take care. 12 days is nothing to sneeze at.
Replenishing electrolytes others have said is the way to go.

I drank some extra water today with salt and losalt which i haven’t used during this fast yet and i feel a bit bitter now.

As @Canari mentioned, i think my cortisol/adrenaline are skyhigh at the moment because they are not sensitive and i need more of them now thus they go even higher.

Still going strong, i feel pretty good besides the headache and some muscle cramps.

Not sure on what the protocol is here with fasting but wonder whether a epsom salts/ magneisum sulphate bath may be beneficial for the cramps and detoxing. Just probably need to watch sodium as magnesium is a sodium antagonist but it will help bring down cortisol and help with the cramps.

i feel pretty good
After 2 weeks, I am pretty happy with the news, good for you!

Not sure on what the protocol is here with fasting .... it will help bring down cortisol
Instead of bringing cortisol down, I think I understood we make, by insisting, the body diminish cortisol receptors, to cope with the high levels created by the fast. The idea is more about what happens after the fast than during. When we resume eating, with less cortisol receptors, then we need less cortisol to do the job, so we make less.
