Get this potassium out from the cells

Can it also indicate good insulin sensitivity ? Potassium being mostly an intracellular mineral , i assume that with good insuulin action low levels would be present in scalp hair .

I was thinking about fin upregulating insulin sensitivity lets say by overloading cell with chromium

but then would not that cause potassium to go inside of the cell, and thus potassium staying low in blood, or may be it does go inside of the cell too much and that is why progesterone is raised trying to keep potassium in blood.

@Slayo I remember one study studied testosterone and finasteride and said that both of them increased insulin levels while on them.

I guess since both fin and testosterone bind NADPH, and body wants to make more NADPH thus it increases insulin while you are taking those hormones

This is why I said may be on FIN body upregulates g6pd and may be even insulin. to make more NADPH, and then when people come off they have too much NADPH.

Also there is a possibility of too sensitive insulin( chromium overload), but then potassium would be low in blood, I have to look into it more.

Remember when we first started this forum , the original idea was that fin is like progesterone and that we need to kill potassium from the cell. to fix PFS.

that is why we suggested Ella and stuff.

So may be when you fast you downregulate insulin sensitivity ( lose chromium from the cell)

when you take off CARBS, you lower NADPH production.

basically mimicking going on FIN) and it lowers calcium levels. since keto or fasting are acidic diets.

In 50% PFS cases INSULIN is zero)) insulin levels are so low, that it is like diabetes,

As I said , there might be g6pd upregulation in PFS( but I am not sure about it))

Fin binds NADPH and it might upregulate g6pd and when you go off you produce tons of NADPH.

It is a possibility.

And another possibility is because of high calcium, DHT cant be broken down into 3 adiol and this causes high DHT, and body tries to lower insulin to lower NADPH, and thus we see no 5AR in the brain and low DHT and basically diabetes in some cases, since the body tried to get rid of NADPH.

I wrote about this extensively already for weeks and about insulin

Read the posts that i WROTE for the last month, it basically outlines all these possibilities

Do you know why keto works so well for people during weight loss? The internet is literally hyped over it being so ‘easy’ to follow. Whats the mechanism behind this?

Fat used as energy source, so fat's burned directly rather than carbs --- and then fat. In Keto. Also more Insulin Sensitivity, because zero or near zero carbs. Much like running before breakfast or strength training before food. @Nina.

So basically by being adapted to a keto diet, you have constant fuel thus you dont get the hunger spikes

Yes, but it is not as good for some sports where you need energy bursts. Good for some long distance swimming. for example

--Not sure. maybe. I guess. Probably there is hunger spikes initially. And maybe body runs on cortisol initially. Like I know I used to just exercise first thing in the morning before I could really even wake up, till it was natural. It does adapt all that... cortisol, insulin, Gh even. But this may be keto or low carbs + fasted training.

---I mean I did cardio a few yrs like that.. fasted. Not really keto. Sure it was fine to look and be fitter. But to gain serious muscle...... I had to change a lot.
--otherwise looked kind of strong but that was just bone mass, and not really gaining much for a long time. AS in, cutting was way easier allowed for more imperfections, compared to gaining LBM and not gaining fat. Or I guess also: Maintaining LBM and not cutting that by accident. For me.

--I basically just run and lift. played tennis, and some other things. And calisthenics. some mma, some other sports not particularly well lol.

---Exercising A LOT, like athletes, definitely seems easier with more carbs. BUT I always use nutrient timing and besides I'm too fkd up to plan meals at x, y, z, time anyways.
--_Fasted training for life. Carbs post workout. IF building muscle or increasing endurance --- some carbs pre workout. --swimming and long distance running I think is fine on it. Sprinting/ racing/ fasted running possible -- I don't think so.

I don't like the ketogenic diet. Maybe if I am not in PFS I like it better. I liked it when I could not handle carbohydrates but I never felt as good as I did on carbohydrates.

I rather do one meal a day zero carb. Which is not ketogenic (eat enough protein and it converts to glucose). You have zero hunger and a lot of mental energy. But you will feel less relaxed and happy and your libido will be (much) lower.

On the classicc keto diet people pound MCT oil, weird sugar alternatives and just overall crap just to stay in ketosis.

No natural human would live in ketosis 24/7. I think this is also why it causes hairloss in some people since you are in stress 24/7 for days on end on the classic ketogenic diet.

Yeah i have done keto cycles in the past and had no libido at all + started losing hair (even when maintaining weight on it). Also burned out quickly during exercise

Agreed 100%. I tried it for like a month and at first I noticed some clearing of brain fog but as I said i began having worse n worse liver/gb pain. I think it can be used for very short term type things but I think it’s a fad that will become known to cause other issues on the long run.

Edit -also since electrolytes are a huge topic here, it should be known that keto is horrible for a persons electrolyte balance. And if someone in pfs or whatever already has issues in this regard keto could theoretically make things worse.

I got fat on the ketogenic diet. No joke. But this was on finasteride so it might change the results.

Now I am lean & mean and I am eating carbohydrates, meat, drinking milk, eating yoghurt, etc. I am following the TEI diet. For me this works much better.

If you are fat I think the best thing to do is fast. Or skip days where you don't eat.

But this thread is if it helps PFS and it seems to help some guys. Maybe because it also increase GABA activity in the brain.

Our brains are addicted to sugar, and the hardest part of keto is generally the first 3 days as our bodies call for sugars via hunger pains. However, similar to a heroin addict, the first 72 hours are full of withdrawal but our bodies will switch to ketosis after 72 hours. This is when many ppl will report hunger disappears and blood sugar levels balance out since there’s no spikes from sugar or carbs.

If you’re a weightlifter , your energy will likely be different, plus the ability to contract the muscle might feel different as well, both for the worse. That’s been my experience when trying ketosis.

But as soon as you have some carbs, the blood sugar spike and then drop will likely trigger hunger as well as pull you out of ketosis.

I’m jealous of all those that have fasted as the very few times I put myself into ketosis were hell on earth for me. lol. No tolerance for that pain over here. Props to those that can handle it or fasting.

--Honestly, like substances. Fasting is infinitely easier when 'it's not around'. I.e. a sad guy's solo apartment. --NO food.
---A familial house, food all over that bitch... fasting 24-36hrs is hard. If you get bored, might just eat. --BUT when it's empty*** it's just mentally easier.
--Obvious, but still. --Exception* below.

--It's like alcohol. If you never have it around. You can go 6-12mo. --if you cutoff drinking friends easier. --if you see your drinking friends all the time, or* have a bar in your place. It's harder.
--out of sight, out of mind.

-Same with eliminating carbs. Again, keto isn't for everyone. I don't do it all the time. Most the time I did it probably was by accident, and just actually I keep carbs post workout. Some days none. Can achieve near same results -- with just fasting 24hrs. But like exercise, diet for me is to partly force routine/ structure.

---Water fasting, fasted training, carb backloading also can get great energy/ fitness results. --- and is easier to maintain. Like a fast once a year, fasted training a few or many times a week, eating after that. ---> that's less restrictive than keto forever. ---> I see it could be a fad, but has helped people. BUT just like vegans, I'm not religious about any of it. --whatever works for you, works for you. which should be fine enough.

--Many I know on Keto aren't nearly as active as I am. BUT then again, so what: that's like a sample size of 20.
--Probably could help Detox/ fatty liver. But again, go straight to the source. Water fasting >>>>> keto.

-N.B.: The Exception is: When so severely ill, being with others - water fasting is essential with family, a friend, or a hospital. -- Especially for the first time.
--when completely CFS, and or other illnesses, you'll need the support.

Keto tanked my libido as well

Roger that, it did mine as well. I ran keto prior to PFS and it made me feel like shit. I had started to retry it right after crashing and did the same with PFS. Binned it and haven’t tried it since.
