Was gonna start a thread with a question about where to get a hair analysis in the UK but this seems like a good place to ask.

Firstly want to say that the support here has been incredible so far and thank you to all who have helped me understand what's happening to me. It's without a doubt been the worst time of my life and this place has been the only resource to truly look to for answers and reactivity.

So, I want to get a hair test done and I've been recommended to look for tei or arl. Does anybody know the best place in the UK to have this done? If not specifically, does this site look reputable and what I'm looking for:

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis HTMA Profile 1 This site has "tei laboratories" referenced for its faq.

My ARL recommendations want me going hard on magnesium/calcium supps, and specifically NOT sodium/potassium. This is because I am a mixed/fast oxidizer in 4-lows with burnout, and their reasoning is that I should transition into slow oxidation to allow adrenal and thyroid to rest before raising sodium and potassium.

My hair analysis

My question is, should I then not take the full electrolyte protocol along with my ARL recs, since ARL wants me supping calcium/magnesium and specifically not supplementing sodium/potassium?

Anybody have any recommendations for this? If not I may just try to skew my electrolyte dosages towards magnesium... but that worries me because sodium showed up as my lowest electrolyte on my hair analysis, yet they don't want me supplementing with it.

I just have registered. This place is great. About time we have a bunch of heads working together towards a common goal(s).

As I understand, we are in a pretty early experimentation phase, so there isn't a comprehensive straight-forward protocol to recovery. As such, I'm looking for some advice for where to begin.

I have had PSSD for 1.5 - 2 years and am not anywhere near recovery. I've experimented with seemingly every supplement under the sun, with only choline and inositol showing some modest improvement. As of now, I basically have no nocturnal/morning erections, very very low libido. I can "get it up," so to speak, but typically requires a degree of manual stimulation and will not stay up very long without continued stimulation (whether from sex or from a hand).

In addition to the PSSD, I have severe anxiety/depression (PSSD may have worsened, but it was already present, hence the use of SSRIs) and the beginning stages of androgenic alopecia (i.e., hairline is taking on the V shape and thinning).

All the conflicting reports and information is extremely overwhelming, even with a degree in science and a fair understanding of neuroscience.

I read some of the "start here" documents, like the electrolyte/mineral protocols, hair test guide, and hair loss protocols. On the electrolyte/mineral subject, it was stated to get a hair test before messing with any minerals, so as not to screw a delicate balance up. Then, under the hair loss protocol, it says pretty much everyone should benefit from zinc/manganese/salt scrubs for hair loss... It's also unclear whether the mineral balances are PFS-specific or could potentially benefit PSSD sufferers as well

I don't have a ton of spare money right now. I've already thrown away ridiculous amounts of money on supplements for PSSD, anxiety/depression and hair loss, so I'm wary of mindlessly buying more without seeing a lot of results backing specific protocols.

I should've done ARL, I don't think TEI provides the same level of detail. Dammit.
??? I am very happy to have done TEI!
Of course they are also very detailed!

Couldn't someone change between a fast and slow oxidizer, depending on what they've been eating? (I.e., whether they've been eating foods high in Na/Mg)? I realize hair is probably more broad than a blood test, since it is over a longer time scale.

With that said, I've been supplementing magnesium for a few months. Should I stop to get a better idea of my natural mineral balances?

The help and feedback from other members has been tremendous lately, I do my best to help members directly when around (I'm not around as often anymore), but recently it seems MANY more people understand now what they are doing, which is awesome.

The forum is growing at a very fast rate along with new content on a daily basis and it can be hard for just a few people to answer all the questions but I'm super happy now that many members understand the concepts and have become educated very quick, makes my job so much easier haha.
