Couldn't someone change between a fast and slow oxidizer, depending on what they've been eating? (I.e., whether they've been eating foods high in Na/Mg)? I realize hair is probably more broad than a blood test, since it is over a longer time scale.

With that said, I've been supplementing magnesium for a few months. Should I stop to get a better idea of my natural mineral balances?

@JustPanicNoDisco yes it is possible to go from fast to slow and vice versa..

in June 2017 I was a ''Slow 2''
in October 2017 I became '' Fast 1''

What did you do?

no idea... i took for 10 days a chelation therapy(1 tsp. sodium thiosulphae with 1 tsp. ascorbic acid mixed in 3 oz water first thing in morning)... this COULD be a factor.. i dont know... why?

There is no such natural mineral balance, as this is changing all the time, and the supps you take are part of this natural process, dont worry!
Yes you can change from fast to slow and slow to fast. Especially if you go too much on and too long on a specific supp, that is why we retest.

Hi guys. I'm emailing a company for the ARL hair test. However, I'm almost three days into my first ever water fast and intend to go as long as I can go (hopefully seven days at least). Can I do the ARL test while in a fasted state or should I wait until afterwards? It's a mildly expensive test program so I'd like to get it right the first time. Thank you.

@Concerned

Your hairtest will display you like the last few months. Depending on the hair length you send. And how close to the scalp you cut those.
You wont see changes you did the last few days on the hair test.

Ok, thanks HerrFisch. This is a strange situation then as I become very, very ill less than two weeks ago (pfs crash). I wonder if my mineral readings would be fine from two months ago but not now? I think almost everyone here who's done the hair test has been at least several months into their illness.

The crash happened a week ago today. It is 15 days since my first dose of fin and 11 days since my last.

hm, yeah just read that. puh
Hard to say. @Concerned

As I said, you will see how your condition was the last few months. And if you were totally fine before, and as it had nothing to do with your PFS problems now, I afraid I dont see how a hair test now and treating your month old chemistry could help your PFS now.

The theory is the reason why some people are effected by pfs and others aren't is because our bodies were out of balance in the first place and pfs makes that worse and worsens and creates other imbalances.

So you might learn something from your hair test and in two or three months take another hair test and see the difference caused by pfs. If money is an issue you could wait but it would be very informative compare hair tests.

Would definitely be interesting. With regards money, I have a moderate amount of savings, but if this thing turns out to be a long battle, I think I have to try and ration as best I can at the moment. I'm already anticipating having to pay for private gut doctors, supplements, medication etc.

The ARL hair test is £150 "for 4 months (1 analysis)". I've emailed them for their opinion on the situation with the results showing from months ago. Hopefully they can clarify from their side what they think.

Is it ? Ok I was not aware of that.
But is it always making the balance worse in the direction it was going before PFS?

Not sure if it does make the specific imbalance worse or create new ones. There is not enough before and after hair test to say this theory us 100% correct. But alot of pfs guys had cfs, digestion issues, and/or of course balding, which according to gboldvue is a sign of an imbalance.

I wouldn't waste money on doctors. There has never been a case of someone getting cured based on a doctor's recommendation. Most doctors just want to mask symptoms.

I can probably see an endo and urologist (just to see their opinions if nothing else) on our socialised health care here in the UK. I mention doctor because I see from Chi's recovery post that he saw someone named Gillian Hamer in London.

I am not going to say that you can't get some help from a doctor and at least confirm something is wrong but hormone replacement and medication is not going to help in the long run.

You need to get your body back in balance. That's the point of all of these protocols, they try it from different angles.

Oh absolutely, I don't want to be using TRT and doctor meds until I've tried what I can from the protocols. TRT would be a last resort. Coming up on 72 hours on my water fast and not tempted to break it yet so I'm happy that I've had the strength to do that so far.

What did you do?
you probably already know this Nina but to new members here:

it can dangerous to ask these kind of questions, because often people quickly jump on the bandwagon and try to mimic what someone else took

i think the most important message with hair testing is: its all about context,
i.e. what made him a fast won't make everyone a fast.

also, a fast 1 isn't necessarily better than a slow 2. i think the most important thing is balancing the first 4 minerals; ca, mg, na, k. HOWEVER not at the expense of the others. Its not worth having a great magnesium level if you take tones of zinc and completely lower your copper level for example, because we need copper too. However, most slows will have high copper so this might be okay for them. For fasts, who already have low copper generally, this is often bad news
