What do you eat?

I recently upped my carbs to ~200/day as i workout quite a lot. I was eating 200gr carbs, 100 gr protein and about 85gr fat which comes down to about 2k kcal. Foods i mainly eat are sweet potatoes, rice, any kind of veggies, whey, chicken, beef, some fish (salmon/shrimps), sometimes something like cereal/bread when i feel like it. Only drink water.

Maybe taking a look at your training programming

You can try Johnny Candito's 6 week program if you lift weights. Put in your maxes and you will get a program. That program never got me overtrained and you peak in week 5/6. Or you can choose to restart at week 5 and do it in cycles like that without peaking.

Thanks but i also do a lot of cardio right now (3x20 mins HIIT + 3x45 mins run, normal speed). Not sure if this would fit in with the routine

" Bad food combinations. All protein powders must be taken with water and often a sweetener. This make them terrible food combinations, and more yin, and the water or liquid tends to dilute the stomach acid when taken in a smoothie or shake. ."

Something I thought about recently as well.

If you think about it, protein shakes are pretty stupid.
Pretty hard to break down proteins with this high dilution of stomach acid.

But is milk different? - Of course less protein

I think i figured my case out. I did some brainstorming and wrote everything down and came to the following conclusion:

- My folate is always low, NADPH makes folate work. Low NADPH = Low folate.

- doctor gave me folate = NOT GOOD. Made me feel 10 times worse. Folate = increases cortisol = wastes potassium even more.

- My progesterone is always higher than normal. High progesterone = body is missing potassium = potassium is needed for NADPH = no potassium, no NADPH.

- no potassium, low cortisol. Body works on adrenaline thus anxiety and no sleep (yep).

- no potassium = no serotonin = mental symptoms (perfectionism is a big one for me. Always feel like i can do better. Never satisfied).

- Zinc closes down NADPH (not 100% sure about this, i think helen mentioned it. Could also be Zinc increases Prog) = why i feel bad on zinc supplements even though they increase potassium levels.

B6 = Increases progesterone levels = why i feel bad on B6 (progesterone already high, too much progesterone closes down NADPH and lowers it further)

Magnesium = OK at first, get worse on it overtime. It supports potassium BUT, low potassium = high progesterone = prog wastes sodium thus low sodium levels. Magnesium crashes sodium even lower.

Progesterone cream = worst symptoms of my life. Crazy anxiety, mood swings, sweating, bloated as hell, severe fatigue and paranoia. Made me feel very very bad, possibly the worst i have ever felt.

All of this makes perfect sense to me right now.

Hey Nina, you know what I found about B6... it affects the androgen receptor, shown here:

Vitamin B6 modulates transcriptional activation by multiple members of the steroid hormone receptor superfamily. - PubMed - NCBI

it's actually not something a man would want to take unless they were in a low T state... because there's competition for the receptor

Now, in a woman, I'm wondering if it's changing your response to other hormones which is another possibility of why you may feel bad...

A separate question, which magnesium are you trying? As I'm totally on board with mag but there's 2 good types for 2 different times of day...

Heya, interesting about the b6. It made my skin really oily so it might have something to do with androgens.

I currently take magnesiumcitrate, but will probably switch to glycinate when i run out of the other one.

Good question. Right now im looking at my diet and i noticed that i only get about 1500-2000mg potassium daily, even less so when i eat low carb. Just ordered something called ‘nusalt’ which is pure potassiumchloride. Will start experimenting with it when it gets here, probably push potassium intake up to 5 grams/day.

I use losalt right now which is 66% potassiumchloride and 33% sodium which i wanna get rid of really. Theres enough salt in my normal diet already

what is your potassium level in blood?

Sounds good, I use KCl every day as well. Its hard to get the ~4grams K RDA every day.

I have been thinking a bit more about my case and it might be that the main problem isn’t low potassium intake, but low respiratory drive. I don’t know yet, still brainstorming over it now and then.

Can you help me understand in layman's terms - They're saying it increases hormone production?

Why wouldn't a Male want to take this? I'm on by now on TEI

doesn't b1 synthesize b6, and b6 is anti prolactin and pro dopaminergic? like a dopamine agonist/ pct, but natural? Like cabergoline a bit?
simplified electrolytes etc helped me A TON. (spinach... 3 salts, every meal, etc. did that 300 d +).

I should clarify that you don’t want to avoid b6, but you don’t want high levels of it. Read below about the sensitivity of receptors and the two studies backing this paragraph I c&p here:

With adequate B6, testosterone synthesis is optimized, steroid clearance is reduced and the recycling of receptors from the nucleus back into the cytosol after initial translocation is increased.
B6 decreases the responsiveness of steroids, as it interacts with steroid hormone-receptors, affecting their genes expression, and in a deficient state, steroids are more responsive. This might be a very big reason to only stick to small doses, such as <10mg PLP daily. So, although sensitivity is reduced, androgen receptors’ translocation is increased, which increase the rate of androgen bindings.
It’s also been found that pyridoxine HCL increases 5-alpha reductase, but pyridoxal HCL doesn’t. The study mentioned that pyridoxal phosphate showed modified enzymatic activities of 5-ar, but didn’t conclude if it increased or decreased it.

Modulation of gene expression by vitamin B6. - PubMed - NCBI

Modulation of steroid receptor-mediated gene expression by vitamin B6. - PubMed - NCBI

So I personally take b1 & b5, and b6 is found in my energy drinks so I don’t look for extra supplementation.

I still say it’s got properties that a Female should look to avoid it
