This study shows that lithium increased HTPA like crazy Lithium Monotherapy Increases ACTH and Cortisol Response in the Dex/CRH Test in Unipolar Depressed Subjects. A Study with 30 Treatment-Naive Patients

So from this study it is seen that lithium just raises serotonin levels. which then activates ACTH. IMO @talkingant

If PSSD people have low cortisol, then they dont have problems with the receptors. they just have low cortisol activation.

Lithium will bypass this by increasing serotonin. Not sure, but did anyone get PSSD from lithium supplementation, Since it is possible IMO if I understand things correctly.

But it will increase cortisol levels according to the study above.

How this is meant to be read, is it making the receptors more sensitive and decreasing the cortisol over time ?
Maybe thats why you say its beneficial for fast oxidizers which maybe have already too sensitive cortisol receptors ?

Edit: My bad, im asking general oxidation type questions in pfs thread log.
By all means, continue the discussion! I'm interested in lithium so it's relevant here.

I gave lithium to 5 slow oxidizers, who look exactly like PSSD hairtest.@takingant All of those people felt mentally better. But all of them had to quit lithium , since it stressed their adrenals. All 5 complained about severe kindey pain ( which I assume were adrenals, pumping cortisol) and had to quit.

I dont know if they could just go thru with it longer . Who knows. but this is what I know. I know that one person takes this lithium when she is stressed. and then quits after 3-4 days.

may be if you power thru with it, it will work.

Personally I could not take lithium in any shape of form, since i had low potassium in blood. I assume by pumping cortisol that thing was just making me feel real bad.

To see cortisol resistance, people need to test cortisol. and ACTH.

I think @talkingant it would be a good idea to take lithium and do the blood test, to see which hormones are effected. and which hormones re pumping so hard on it.

According to the study above, it just increases ACTH.

@Niles @Helen we had a PSSD recovery via Lithium, but isn't it a very powerful psychiatric medication? A lot of people were a bit wary about trying it for that reason.
PSSD Collaborative Research • View topic - CURED
The standard 5mg dose of elemental lithium in the supplemental orotate form is essentially a microdose compared to doses of the prescription carbonate form given for bipolar or major depressive. That's not to say it's without risks, but the risks a far less than the carbonate form doses you typically hear about in psych class and such. I'm definitely planning to be cautious with it, and I sought out 2.5mg caps so I could start slow with 2.5mg EOD.

What form and what doses were you giving? From what I've read, 5mg of lithium orotate is generally well tolerated, but maybe with this specific body chemistry even such a low dose is problematic.

I'd like to, cause i have 5mg lithium orotate laying around since maybe 1+ years, which ive just tried to see the taste and im also half fast half slow oxidizer, who knows what im. But if the maestro @Helen would be that kind to review my questions above and discuss on the lithium, cortisol, receptors, oxidation: Fast, Slow oxi topic, the party can carry on.

LOL. I think I pretty much covered lithium.

It lowers sodium on the hairtest.

This is confusing, why a slow oxidizer body would complain of more cortisol, arent they supposed to be lowish on it in general. Maybe those individuals were with too slow metabolism and the jump was too rapid for them at that moment.

Then on other hand fast oxidizers will have plenty of cortisol and more cortisol from lithium will disbalance them even more. Thats even more confusing why lithium is better.

I am not saying what lithium is better for, I am just stating my experiences with it.

I dont know if it is better for fast oxidation.

just usual 5m of lithium orotate pill. I just checked

Wow That was a fast party, we just started dancing and now the lights are on, plus the sodium must be carefulling when lithium is around, poor sodium.

Haha, I did not mention hydrogen yet . Lithium effects hydrogen big time.

I dont remember exact interaction, I remember I read that it stops its absorption. but I am not sure .

This is unbelievable, all fast oxidizers can get cured within a day or two with a 7.50$ bottle of lithium orotate.

dude, I did not say anything about fast or slow oxidizers, I am not sure about lithium. I just told you my experience.

It could work for anyone.

I have a very limited experience with it.

increasing ACTH is not the answer anyway.

I just posted so people are aware what it does. It effects some serotonin receptors and causes the serotonin release, this increases ACTH.

Slow oxidizer does have low cortisol release. So if this increases cortisol for slow oxidizer without bad effects, why not.

burnt out fast oxidizer, could have also slower cortisol release than needed.

Surely we appreciate your experience and the fact you are sharing it here.

Im not too worried about myself, but about those who walk all day in the streets and usually look either on some sides when you cross their way instead of at your face or usually looking down to the ground while walking slowly. They must be needing some lithium.
I doubt they know about any sodium potassium, cortisol etc., since they are busy walking outside instead of sitting in front of a TV looking for answers across the web. If they only knew.

Haha, man, lithium is very popular, it does have crazy sides. like you read about. So not a happy walk with a dog in a park LOL

And to tell you the truth , if not for this stupid finasterid or lead toxicity that I got. I wish I also never knew about sodium potassium, and especially lithium. I think I had more chance to know what cocaine was when I was healthy than lithium or electrolytes.

I was invincible LOL in my mind. I never ever went to doctors.
