Really unnormal case

Hi to everyone,
I have not posted for a long time because my case differ a lot from the others I saw there.

For now everything indicates that I have some problems with proper sodium absorption. Mayby an SLGT2 mutation, Na-H transporter, Na-K transporter. I do not now for sure but it is definitely connected to sodium. Poor sodium absorption causes low blood pressure - I can have episodes when it is closer to normal and also when is goes down really bad.

I found out that licorice root is supposed to increase aldosterone and cortisol thus improve sodium retention. Is there anyone who used it or know if it can have any sides?
@Helen, @vicecaz, @MNK99, @IHateFin could you wrote something about this stuff if you know?

Hello Jamie,

I did try licorice a few times, I took 1tsp of licorice root powder two times last week. I don't feel much from it except an increase of heat in my body. I never tried it more than 1/2 a week so I can't vouch for its effect in the long term.

Why do you think you have issues with sodium retention?

I tried licorice before, it didnt work. I also had high sodium that wouldnt come down, until i did TEI

do yourself a favour and jump on TEI !! You have to be patient and its a bit pricey but its worth it

Evething that somehow is known to increase sodium retention helps me a lot. Without that I am crashing, have all the symptoms of low blood pressure. I took licorice root. It helped, hope there will be no sides from that. Do you know if taking it long term may deregulate something in a wrong way or reregulate in a good?

It looks like my core problem is sodium absorption. And it is from the very beggining - around 4 years ago. Through that time I was trying different routes but they didn't changed my baseline symptoms much.

Actually I do not know what was the cause of my case. I was not taking any medicines at that time. Symptoms just started to be more and more visible.

I found out that castor oil was helpful, which is known to decrease potassium but I do not take it any longer as I do not know anything about possible sides.

Saturated fat(e.g lard) which increse aldosterone is helpful to prevent hard crashes. Like when I am loosing it and get immediately tired, brain fogged it increses sodium absorption a bit and thus blood pressure.

Also sometimes calcium +vitD helps as Ca absorption increase Na absorption. But that is very tricky and sometimes instead of helping makes things worse.

And now I started licorice root which seems to help for now.
Are there any other ways to increase sodium absorption?

Did you do a hairtest? Obviously only rational choice is to fix it not bandage it. Really, you'll just waste time.

But....I as well always felt better when NA / Methylation went up.
On my HT my Na was declining together with my Mn. And I think one of the important factors in my case was higher Mn intake for my sodium to go up. Stilts for me were B1, active b6 / b12, caffeine, exercise, Palmoil. Also liked licorice root.
But only stilts and did not change anything really in the long run. And I'd say; at least spoken for me, if you want to have permanent changes not just feel good on some supplement for limited time only, you have to do more than doing random things. Pretty sure its not only Sodium retention / absorption that is your problem.

So if you are just searching for stilts maybe there is something.

On the hairtest for NA to go up its Mn, Cu, Fe, B1, B12, Vit E (probably most methylation supps and stimulants too)
Things that lower NA are Mg, Zn, Folic acid, B2, Chromium

And I think Potassium supplementation also increases Aldosterone

I did a hairtest but it was a while ago. https://hackstasis.com/threads/fast-oxidizer-hairloss.209/
It was not done by TEI but by a company that was in my country. On the HT Na is slightly declined, but Mn a lot.

What kind of exercise was helping you? Cardio or heavy lifting?
Is there a better way to contact arl? There was a contact survey on their page but they didn't answer yet.

@HerrFisch is right. Don't waste your time with bandaids. You need a complete metabolic shift. I had stubbornly high blood pressure, it wasn't until my ratios started balancing out when it came down
Did you contact TEI through the survey on their webpage or some other way?
