How long have you been taking 5mg per day?
Maybe you increased acetylcholine too much if you've been taking it for months and that's why you feel numb.

But what about arsenic.. I mean if someone is eating it twice a week it is probably not big deal, but 2-3 times a day heh..Phytic acid is pretty good actually.
Binds iron in the gut and some in the blood.
Also the body makes inositol from it which neutralizes copper toxic effects and makes bile more liquid.
Even if it binds some zinc who cares. One 30mg tablet is gonna be enough to offset 2 weeks of high phytate diet.
A bit on and off for 1/2 months now, sometimes 2.5mg, mostly 5mg. I did experience with 10mg manganese and 30mg zinc in the past due to Helens theory of it combating hair loss, but always seemed to lower my libido. How long have you been taking 5mg per day?

I think it's an important mineral but not without risks, I can get insane insomnia from regular selenium supplement when taking solo, dosages between 100-200mcg.@Ingeno manganese is interesting metal. I wonder why would be people deficient in it if they consume whole food diet. Even white rice should have plenty of manganese let alone whole grains or oats, nuts, seeds etc. they are loaded with manganese..
Anyway I am thinking trying higher dose selenium. Maybe that is the reason I can't handle iodine at all. Like people take 3-5-10-15mg of iodine and they feel nothing. I feel after taking 5mg daily like I am dying from oxidative stress and maybe it is because my selenium is low. Like it is low on hair test.
On first hair test it was 0,080 and second and third hair test it went up to 0,103 while taking 100-200mcg a day, but ideal is around 0.180..
I remember Helen/Gbolduev said he was taking 3000mcg or something like that while dealing with cancers. I think I have similar situation.
But don't know how I figure out how much I should increase the dose..
I think I will try 400mcg for some time and will see. after couple of weeks if I can handle more iodine..
