I read this by him:

If you need huge amounts of salt to feel good have energy, etc., your aldosterone is LOW.

The adrenals produce the hormone aldosterone which retains salt in your blood stream.

Sodium is your energy mineral. Water follows salt. Low salt drops your blood volume. Without sufficient blood volume, your blood pressure drops. Combined, this leads to less nutrient, glucose, etc. transport into the tissues.

Adrenal faitgue is sodium depletion basically.

One excellent way to raise aldosterone is via the keto diet.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36629058/

"Aldosterone increased by 88% and 144% in the KD + PL and KD + KS groups"

KD = Keto
PL = Placebo
KS = Ketone Supplements

The more ketones you produce, the more aldosterone your adrenals synthesize.

So the less carbs you eat, the less salt you need.

This is why most long term successful carnivores do only beef + water, without the added salt.

Aldosterone goes up in those diets for more need of salt. Then you should satisfy those hormones wants no? Almost no carnivore I know eats no salt either. So now your aldosterone is high and you eat no salt. How does this fix this problem. The hormones go up to retain more which means you don't get enough of it in your diet so body has to raise hormones to get more salt from less food (increase absorption)

@RebelWithACause Yeah Aldosterone is stress hormone. I had high aldosterone for sure when I was retaining tons of water. THat is stage of stress where your adrenals have to pump out tons of hormones and still can keep up. Once you are in burnout stage aldosterone stays low and you need to constantly ear salt. If I had small glass of water it would cause crazy crash because it would lower that already low sodium in the blood..
So I don't know what is his point. No salt is stress on the body for sure. We want just optimal intake of sodium. If your adrenals are in good shape and you are not in burnout you could be ok with just a pinch of salt in each meal. If you are in complete burnout you could need a lot of salt with all fluids you are taking in from drinks or food..
During my bodybuilding days I was doing that stupid always having bottle of water in the hand and no salt. So my aldosterone was constantly high for sure. For years and years.
It is not like I had some sodium in my diet. I cooked all my meals there was hardly any sodium.. So I think people if they retain a lot of fluids I think they can be sodium deficient for sure. Not just low on potassium..

Sounds like Helen. But who knows maybe we see ghosts of Helen everywhere lol. I like his information though, very good. An actual guy who understands more and doesn't rely on magical thinking.

I agree calcium is needed. I did without calcium for 2 years or so and you'll run in calcium problems even as a slow oxidizer. But at first I didn't need calcium and would make me feel depressed quickly. Although TEI said I was a fast oxidizer but probably from finasteride. Because later tests became slow.

I do agree also that zinc can make you passive. I notice eventhough I have become healthier when I was unhealthier I was way more living life and not taking bullshit from people lol. Now I just ignore it. In a way this is more beta when you lean too much towards this passive state. On the other hand you could say when you ignore it, it's better because you'll be fighting everyone on a daily if you don't agree lol. That being said taking zinc zinc zinc, it will passify you if the intake is out of balance. Unless you naturally have a very high Sodium-Potassium ratio. This was always said here too.

Probably why TEI gives manganese

Btw another thing that I don't understand at all. Sodium are adrenals. Low sodium are low adrenals. In nutritional balancing they use copper/manganese to rise sodium. But I wonder how that copper and manganese achieve this higher adrenal hormone production? Isn't that just stimulant effect like with coffee, exercise etc.? That it will force the body make more hormones, but long tern you are just depleting the body more and more? SO what is the goal here? To stimulate the body and keep replacing other micronutrients like B vits, vit C, zinc, potassium, magnesium etc.. that are lost during the stress mode?
If that is the case maybe stuff like coffee or aerobic exercise is better for rising Na/K than poisoning the body with copper when you are already slow oxidizer with liver full of copper probably?

Gringo is responding to ur posts here. Great I can't post on lowtoxin forum. So I will ask you here Gringo. So what would you do if you had adrenal insufficiency, low aldosterone, dehydrated, fatigue as fuck. Probably high lactic acid from carb metabolism etc.. Maybe your answer would be keto? But I can't digest fats well. I am slow oxidizer. Slow oxidizer should do what basically fitness diet lean proteins, some carbs based on activity and lower fats.. That is exactly what I can eat and somewhat function meaning going to work, ride a bike etc..
I did keto for couple of weeks and I think it created atherosclerosis like crazy. My blood was so thick from all that cholesterol and fat from the blood. It was miracle that I didn't end up with heart attack or stroke or something..
Do you think that for adrenal burnout you need that protocol of avoiding stress a lot of rest etc.? Or what is your take on how to rebuild adrenals?
I don't know what to think about nutritional balancing anymore. Like they recommended 55mg of zinc based on my last hair test. I know it would completely shut my system down and I couldn't work or do anything.. But some people say that is good. The body is forced to rest and rebuild slowly... Which makes sense somewhat.. If the body is under constant chronic stress from any kind of reason from mental stuff from toxic relationships to over exercise, undereating whatever. The body will never recover if it runs on alarm mode all the time right.. That's why I think about long vacation. Putting all my money to 5 months of doing nothing just swiming in the sea, walking outside, eating what feels good. Simply create scenario where my body shouldn't have any reason why to be stressed...

Thx for the answer Gringo. I agree with everything. I do use sodium ascorbate. Mixing 1 ascorbic acid with aluminium free baking soda in the morning. Sometimes in the middle of the day as well.
What you think about when people say vit C slows down ALDH enzyme and therefore detox?
Btw I have issues with bile production. So soluble fiber = constipation..
I had great bile flow with perfect stool when I was eating a lot of normal yellow potatoes as carbs + some corn flakes in the morning with jelly and fruits like banana and apples and I was eating decent amount of all kinds of meats red and poultry + sea food like shrimp, octopus, calamari + decent amount of olive oil on potatoes + some lemon juice on food and some cucumbers.
I struggle to mimic this diet because potatoes give me crippling joint/spine pain + I can't afford that much meat and sea food. That food was for free when I was working in the kitchen.
I was also swimming in the sea daily. Maybe that also helped rise my Na/K a lot? I was sweating like crazy.
It was diet low in fiber. Somewhat high in copper, iron, zinc, potassium, probably low manganese and calcium, a lot of protein, probably much more fat that I eat right now.. I mean I put like max 15g( 1tbsp) of oil on top of low fat meal like chicken breast and rice/corn pasta. Maybe I should try much more olive oil?
I am finishing second bottle of TUDCA, but it did completely nothing. I am done with expensive supplements. My poop is still far from brown color and floats and often like rabbit balls due to dehydration. I need to increase sodium and bile flow ASAP that's for sure...

I wonder if he has any ideas regarding androgenic alopecia and how to reverse or halt hair loss in men. Too bad you need to pay to post on that forum.
as far as i remeber you need folic acid. you may try as well folinic acid-t is active form. but you can use folic acid and normal b vitamins which will convert folic acid to folinic. of course I may be wrong, but i think this was the conclusion of conversation on this forum (of course if you mean horseshoe pattern-when you loose hairs from ,,top" of your head and from tempels)

Yes thanks for the answers @Gringo. Makes it more understandable.

This is very interesting:

Keto diets with high saturated fat content will lead to calcification issues and a slower metabolism. If you want to do keto, try with a focus on unsaturated fats like olive oil and avocado oil plus a source of soluble fiber.

In all those years experimenting with certain diets I never tried that. Always ate a lot of saturated fats when going heavy on the fats and during low carb periods. Kind makes sense. Saturated fats are much heavier than PUFA/MUFA for me at least. But makes it easier to do OMAD if you want to since you lower metabolism probably. You last longer without additional fuel.

With the aldosterone stuff it kind of sounds like the Na/K ratio. Too much zinc, magnesium, etc. lower Na/K too much you become passive, slightly depressed etc and esentually also lowers vitality and detox ability.

I also notice good effects from high vitamin C dosages. Especially when you chelate metals you get a lot of oxidative stress it seems vitamin C helps against this. How I notice oxidative stress is my mood gets bad and I can get even depressed.

I would love to eat eggs fro choline and stuff, but because of stress - low thyroid/adrenals. It seems that the body is not using that cholesterol. So it just builds up in the blood.
What you think about creatine monohydrate and TMG to spare choline. So the body doesn't need that much from the diet? Btw also manganese lowers chromium and so they should be taken together?
Don't know if I should take manganese if my bile flow is bad. Probably not? On hair test chromium and manganese were super low. But maybe the manganese is just hiding.. Who knows after my first hair test I started taking chromium and manganese and in another test they were little higher, but still low. After that I stopped with balancing, a lot of stress again etc. and another test exactly the same as the first one. Yeah it seems like all I need is to be stress free and saturate the body with essential elements and the body will do the rest.. Sounds simple, but life doesn't give a fuck about what I want or need...
What you think about this website. The only source I saw talking about chromium and copper as associated trace elements.. Chromium & Copper: Benefits, Side Effects & RDA
Btw what you think about arsenic in rice. Because I can't nightshades, gluten, don't want to eat high oxalate stuff or high in beta carotene(was detoxing vit A fro almost decade, because I was at least decade eating stupid amounts + was on accutane and sups with vit A etc... Just stupid ingesting so much vit A when you are hypothyroid etc.. Now retinol in the blood is on lower side. SO I don't feel like it's a big issue for me anymore, but still don't want to eat liver, carrots etc..) Anyways white rice is like eating nothing. It just gives insulin spike and nothing else.. I like brown rice. I buy organic, but still probably not ideal because of arsenic? I soak, rinse, boil in excess of water and rinse again. Like the flavor, lower insulin spike.. Or what carbs you suggest. I like buckwheat as well, but it is loaded with copper..

White rice is more for energy. Not all foods have to be nutrient dense to have a place in a diet. Just like sugar and honey is eaten for fast energy production. Starch for me works very well always has. Others maybe not. For me fruit sugars is not as good. It feels stronger and quicker but I don't like it as much. Brown rice not sure. I do fine on it as well.

But you also need nutrition which supports the body. I think the diet Gringo outlines makes sense I also experimented with lower fat, normal carbs, lean meat, you feel like crap like that it's not sustainable and feels even worse if you are sick probably you will have worse blood sugar control. Your body depends too much on carbs and protein to sustain blood sugar.

The only thing I notice I personally do feel better on saturated fats I think - I haven't tested other majority of oils for a long time. But it is true if your metabolism is very low I wouldn't be surprised if it's better to eat more fats from olive oil/MUFA and not from high saturated high cholesterol foods because then you will not convert and use enough to keep metabolism running good. That's when you get the problems with arteries and shit. I saw some carnivore guys do very good they had good thyroid levels. Those who didn't got very high cholesterol levels, fats in blood, etc. Logically... Which made their hypothyroid symptoms and outcomes worse of course.

I want to try a diet with more MUFA fats like that, see how I feel. It's interesting to me. Also think of Andreas Moritz he used olive oil in his flushes too right and not saturated fats and stuff. Could be it's a better source especially while detoxing and healing.

@RebelWithACause I still wonder about this whole calorie thing. Do I have all those issues related to slow metabolism/hypothyroidsm due to some biochemistry/organ stuff as a cause or I have that slow metabolism/hypothyroidsm high TSH(that I btw first discovered during crazy bodybuilding cutting diet while working 12 hour shifts in warehouse lol) because I am simply not eating enough calories for like last 2 decades due to my strict/limited diet that I am always on.. I mean regular people don't have to eat whole day and at the end of the day they eat some big junk food meal and they are easily in surplus, but I never snack, never drink stuff like coca cola etc.. and my meals are like what 700kcal at most... Hard to eat enough.. The thing is I tried so many times keeping calories up and it never lasted more than 2 weeks lol. No wonder I have all those issues from hair loss, constipation, crazy tired, zero libido etc.. It is amazing how the body can adapt. Because on paper I should be losing weight like crazy, but I am still 80-83kg for 177cm eating like 2500kcal a day even when I burn just at work like 2000...
I know that recovering from decades long chronic undereating takes crazy long time. I think I need to focus on that and not give up after 2 weeks when I get little bloated or something lol.

OMAD works pretty well for me when I don't know what to do I go back to that or fast for a few days and then my appetite is regulated again to normalcy. But it does cause fatigue. I can't claim I am 100% energetic all day on OMAD.

I think you have a slow metabolism. For me same, but in my case I always done better in general on lower calories. When I overdo it I also get fatigue. When I underdo it also fatigue. But they are different fatigues. Eventually on too low calories I hit a wall and then need more calories temporarily.

I did drink like liters of milk for a few months, felt like I needed that. Maybe this was from a past calorie deficit. It's hard to know what is right for you it's like you need to instinctively know what to do. I get better at it by time. But even then I make mistakes and have to reassess the situation. Worst thing to do is to be TOO stubborn and keep doing something that is not 100% working right. A little bit stubborn is good so you do what you think is right.

Eggs are hit or miss. Too much eggs and I get too numbed down from the choline. Once in a while is OK for me. But yea when I first crashed eggs would send me into depression. Same as what Helen used to say. It is healthy but can still be bad in a slow metabolism. I personally do bad on increase in methylation. I guess I am an overmethylator or something. I do better on B3 which lowers methylation. Even creatine seems to push methylation too high for me I go crazy kinda. Like aggression and paranoia. Other people do better on increase in methylation

@RebelWithACause To handle fasting and OMAD and stuff you need to be stress free. If I am completely relaxed and rested I see how my apetite goes down. Zero cravings etc.. So for now it is scifi for me to try any kind of fasting.. Ultimately like you said you have to listen to your body. If you are hungry you should eat. If not you should listen to it. Which I have often hard time because when I already have cooked meals it is hard for me to not eat them. If I hate something it is wasting food heh..
I do bad on stuff that speeds up methylation like B complex. It seems to speed up things too much and stressing the body that can't keep up.. So for example normally I can eat breakfast and work for 5 hours until next meal. If I take B complex I feel crash coming already like 2 hours in and I have to eat which fixes the low blood sugar, but the anxiety and irritability etc.. keeps going..
B vitamins are still mystery to me. I somewhat understand minerals/metals, but messing with B vitamins is causing just problems for me.. I am done with taking individual B vitamins and stuff. Maybe I take here and there like 5th of a B complex capsule here and there or something, but that's about it.

Could be you are bottlenecked somewhere like I used to be low in calcium and would get a lot of problems from speeding up (in this case B vits). Even though I had a slow metabolism. Which is funny but it has been explained here that even slow oxidizers can have lack of calcium (from lack of digestion perhaps?) or lack of ionized calcium. Or lack of functional vitamin D or anything related to calcium. Maybe for me it was finasteride usage as well which pushed my metabolism high because before finasteride never had issues with bones or calcium I actually had extremely strong teeth (very white and filled in almost I think I was too high in calcium. Sometimes hypothyroid people they do have good teeth. When I take inactive B vitamins not much problems ever now. Active B vitamins I become crazy for some reason which is probably too much methylation. Same happened when I was taking a lot of creatine. I think I overmethylate and not undermethylate. Bottom line yea you should listen to current situation of your body but also try to figure out what the problem is. For me it was just trying stuff out eventually realised what my problem at that point was. Easier said than done but it's possible.
